I have insomnia and sleep trouble nowadays. I have difficulty to fall sleep on the right time. My time has been rescheduled. I am not sleeping the whole night until the morning. I am awake most of the night , lying in bed wondering how i could do household chores in the morning. I will sleep after lunch till 3 hours or 4 hours in the afternoon. But sometimes, I 'm unable to wake when i needed to. I want to find out the cures for insomnia. What relaxation or therapies you know to help me sleep?

I also have insomnia... the worst time for to fall asleep sometimes is 4AM. But nowadays, it became 2AM. I am still trying to sleep by 1AM so that my body and mind can easily adapt on that time at least. Usually when we have a lot of things in mind it is hard to sleep. I think you should try drinking milk although I know it won't work sometimes. Try to avoid sleeping in the afternoon so that your body clock will eventually change. I have experienced to have no sleep at all and the next day I have to go out with my friends. It was like I did not sleep for two straight days, I even tried staring at the fan but it didn't work before. Fortunately at least I can sleep by 1, 2 or 3AM.

I think that the most important thing that you have to do is to try and make sure that you get yourself into a routine that you can stick to, as this means that your body would be used to getting up and going to bed at the right times. If you can't get to sleep, then don't just lie in bed, as this can be incredibly counter productive and mean that you soon learn to associate your bedroom with sleeping problems rather than as somewhere where you are able to relax and have a good peaceful night of sleep.

I think willpower is important. One has to get a good routine going and have the willpower to live your life. Don't let others live your life for you. Listening to soft music when in bed might relax you. Maybe also something repetitious like the waves of the ocean or the wind blowing or something else that is soft and soothing. Or do something practical like getting Bible recordings and listening to that. At least if you still can't sleep you are listening to something up-building and useful.

Let me know how you are doing from time to time. I used to have a problem going to sleep but now most nights Ii am in bed by latest 11 PM and sleep very well. Now I am getting up earlier and getting a lot of things done. Also. close the computer and the TV by 10PM and relax. It takes a while to get used to it but then you will enjoy sleeping, a great pleasure that God has give us. Also by getting a good night's rest you will enjoy life much more. All the best!

I'd suggest you prepare your brain for sleep. Remove all diversions and attention-grabbers near your bed like gadgets because they are just giving you all the distractions for you not to pursue sleep. Use your bed for sleeping alone and when you can't sleep, get out of bed. Do not try to force yourself to sleep cause turning and tossing around bed can just worsen the anxiety that you're feeling. You can leave the room and do something that is relaxing, appeasing and pacifying like reading, drinking milk or a caffeine-free tea, taking a warm bath, or heeding to a soothing jazz music. Then when you're sleepy, you can now go back to sleep. One of the surefire recipe for insomnia that I know is when you have a clock or a watch near you. It's when you hear and see the clock ticking and time passing so fast that makes you more anxious and couldn't settle you to sleep because you're distressed that the time you need to wake up is near. You can have an alarm clock at your room but you have to place it somewhere where you cannot see it. You also have to challenge yourself to remove all self-defeating thoughts before sleep and do breathing exercises. I hope these help. Happy MyLotting to you!

I just drink coffee once in the morning, not everyday. But as you said here, i will look for caffeine-free tea. Thanks ! :)

Firstly, you have to detect your problems for not sleeping. Do you have problems burden you? Find a solution and you can sleep afterwards.

You need to know the reason why you cannot sleep. If you have problems, don't keep thinking about it it won't be resolved when you are stress. Take sometime to resolve it or have a friend to talk with who can help you with. take a bath in the evening, eat ripe banana and drink a lukewarm milk, it's a good downer. Hope this will help you.

Don't try to think much when going to sleep. Just concentrate into sleeping and emptying your mind. The more you think about the next day or the previous day, the more you will have trouble sleeping. I used to get this problem, but I solved it by emptying my mind before sleeping or making myself tired so I can fall asleep fast.

I also have problems with sleeping. I am actually so sleepy now while typing my response lol. I do not know how deal deal with deal. I have tried everything. I tried to drink warm milk before going to bed, but nothing changed. I tried to clean my room to be tired, but I still did not feel asleep. I don't know why I have this problem. It's not like I have problems or thinking something while in bed. My mind is blank but I still can't sleep.

Insomniacs have to moderate their lifestyle if they have to overcome the issue and get good sleep to stay healthy. A number of reasons may cause loss of sleep, the key ones being too much stress and worry, indiscretion in habits especially overdose of tea and coffee, lack of proper physical activity etc. The key is to get some fresh air & calm down the mind & body. Rectification of wrong breathing habits is one major correction required. Every day, practice simple breathing techniques twice for at least five to seven minutes. You may find help from this article: http://www.ezinearticles.com?A-Simple-Breathing-Exercise&id=793375

Most of our health problems are easy to correct as long as we know how to do it. I have been in contact with gnld.com for many years and my health problems came from lack of right nutrition. So I have learned a lot by listening for the information they give on webinars and meetings. Of course the best thing we could do would be to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and avoid all junk foods, especially white sugar and white flour, but everyone is not always ready to do that kind of change. So many choose the food supplements that are made of food without synthetic ingredients. Even if we donĀ“t buy any of the supplements, it can be good to go to the site for some advice. One thing we need to learn is that if we are too acid, everything in the body stops working as it should. So we can choose vegetables to get Calcium and Magnesium and sunshine to get vitamin D. Magnesium helps to sleep better. Another thing is that we need good bacteria to be able to digest our food properly. It can help to use fermented food natural yogurt. If we take care of our health, we will most likely sleep better.

Hmmmm, like what some of the respondents have posted already, you should try to alter your schedule, especially when you get to sleep in the afternoon. When you get to sleep in the afternoon, you end up having energy again in the evening which makes you unable to sleep through the night. I guess that really takes a lot of effort but I believe that it is truly possible. On another note, I do have an alternate suggestion when it comes to people with in insomnia. Perhaps you would be interested in trying it. It is something you put within your pillow and it'll help you get sleepy more or less.

I developed insomnia in 1975 and have not had one normal sleep since. I have Primary Insomnia I. Some things that have helped me through the years is hypnotherapy, meditation and massage. But I still suffer terribly with my insomnia. You need to consult with a Sleep Disorders Specialist. But first, you should probably visit your Primary Care Physician. Be careful about sleeping pills. There are side effects and they are habit forming. In order to cope with my insomnia, I have been forced to make changes in my entire life. I have had to reduce stress to a minimum. I can only work p.t. I have had to limit personal relationships. I live very simply and spend a lot of time being quiet and alone. And still my insomnia continues to be a terrible problem.

Insomnia - this thing really annoying and disturb our work.
when we have to wake up morning to get work,we cant sleep well because we get insomnia.
it cause we lost so much energy in the morning.
we dont get enough rest.
our energy not fully recover.
so we cant do our job well.
you have a problem like what my girlfriend has. it really disturb i think. you cant get enough rest and when morning come, you dont get fresh body, you can thinking clearly because you are still tired. i think you sjould trying to go sauna. maybe it can relaxing you from so many problem that burdened you. maybe one of reason make you get insomnia is too much thinking your problem. you should try to not thinking too hard now. just trying to thinking small thing. maybe it will help yoou much.

you said you sleep for 3-4 hours in day time after taking lunch and sometimes even more then that.firstly you should stop sleeping after lunch as it is the main reason behind your insomnia at night.your mind and body has already taken a rest of 3-4 hours in day time and your brain is active at night then.how can you feel sleepy then?

Maybe you have too much stress in your life. Try meditating or doing light yoga before you go to sleep so it puts your mind into ease. Also you can try drinking different calming teas that will relax your body and mind and help you falling asleep. Good luck! :)
