The season has arrived. Today was our first really cold day so I came home from work and put the pot on~! Its just about ready as the dumplings have just finished cooking. I can't wait to eat. Do you make dumplings? Are they from scratch or Bisquick? I use a recipe that was passed down from my grandmothers family! Tons of butter......salt and pepper!

I love Chicken noodle soup with dumplings. I make mine from scratch. That is the way my Mom always did it. Mine are made with flour, milk, baking powder and eggs. Your recipe sounds great. My grandma always made homemade Chicken noodle soup with homemade egg noodles. I so love soup when it is chilly out, I had mine last week. Enjoy.

Yes my Chicken soup with dumplings was delicious. It is cold out today, a bowl full of soup would be great. I am planning on making my grandmother's home made chicken soup soon, can't wait. Have a nice day.

Actually dumplings is not one of my favorites. I ate so much of them when I was a kid, I avoid them now. I do love homemade chicken soup. It's been years and years since I made soup. Now I can't since our stove has been turned off. Had something to do with the age of the stove and the connections. The gas company turned it off along with my oven. I do have a couple of crockpots which I can use but have been lazy. We do eat out often too.

Stove and oven are disconnected so we are safe. We need to replace them if and when we decide to sell our house. It won't pass code according to the gas company therefore the house couldn't be put on the market.

I have not had homemade dumplings for yrs. Not since I think I was still living at home when my Mom did them. She and I used to make homemade noodles as well which I really miss doing as well. I think anymore people get too busy to do things from scratch in cooking like this, but now you are making me want to do this even more. They are the best when homemade.

I actually use Jiffy baking mix, it's cheaper than Bisquick and that is what I use on my apples and dumplings.... I haven't been brave enough to try and make chicken and dumplings, but maybe someday...

I have a hard time finding jiffy things. They used to carry them in every store now it's a struggle to find it. For someone like me living alone the smaller portions would be great...luckily the dollar store carries Betty Crocker things in smaller portions.

Really? That stinks because Jiffy is a lot less expensive than Bisquick. I am glad you have a dollar store, that probably makes it affordable..

I do make dumplings but I usually make them from scratch. Though I have not found a recipe that I really like yet, so I just make them like egg noodles for the most part except they are not put thru a pasta machine.

When I was a kid we had chicken noodle soup all the time but from a packet, I loved it and even though I don't like to eat meat I bought a packet of chicken noodle soup a few months ago but I don't know if it is a sign of getting older or what but it just wasn't the same as when I was a kid..

I know what you mean. Some of the things my mother made...well when I make them now it's just not the same.....maybe its memories that make it taste better in our minds.

Hello jill. Yesterday was a perfect day for chicken and dumpling or noodles. I am staying with my daughter and she made this lovely chicken broth from a roasting chicken after adding the boned chicken back to the broth she put these awful bought noodles to it. They are so awful that they even ruined the broth. She made enough for at least two days of suppers. The sad thing is her family like them. Maybe it is just me. As for dumpling I have made them both ways from scratch and Bisquick. I have also made noodles from scratch and will again. I love chicken and dumplings. They are the best comfort food around.

Hi there Jill Hill! I do not make dumplings but when it's really cold, I love eating noodles. Usually, I just buy those instant noodles but what I love about most is a cup noodle called "Jampong" or "Jiampong", I'm not really sure how it is spelled. It's very spicy but you can still taste its flavor unlike other food that loses its flavor when overwhelmed by its spiciness. Now I'm craving for one.

Now when you are talking about dumplings are you talking about the big noodle type things or the big puffy things that go on top of the soup? I have made chicken and dumplings with the noodle type dumplings and when I make stew I make the puffy ones that go on the top of the stew.

That sounds yummy! I don't usually make dumplings unless I make stew and that is rare. I have always used Bisquick when making them though. Actually stew sounds really good. I might have to get the stuff to make stew this week. And some Bisquick to make some dumplings.

Cold days were ment for some freshly made and still very warm soup! I do make chicken and dumplings. Though sadly I have not found a recipe that meets my liking for dumplings. I found a recipe a couple years back and I had not written it down and I have never found it again. They were light and fluffy, almost like a small poof of air when you at them. *sigh*

Hi, I really love noodles and my family are noodles fan. For making dumplings, I think I'll pass that out. I can't make one, I have tried once and fail, and it broke my heart, lol. I love watching the chef made dumplings at the chinese restaurants, I admire them and enjoy eating whatever they made.
