South Africa Vs Australia, Johannesburg 2nd Test March Nov. 2011 updates

India

South Africa collapse for 266 after a bright start, Australia finishes the day strongly but I have a feeling that this is going to be another dilly/dolly. Is this going to be the right set-up for another enthralling test match? Have your say. Not a Mylot member yet? Want to earn money online? If Australia loses to S.A,bets the Kiwis, loses to India and lose the Ashes, in what rank would that leave them?

The same old story, the lower middle order being fragile for both teams. Australia have struck back but the lead closer to 300, SA should be feeling the upper hand.

Hi venkatesh, Australia at the moment have taken a strong grip over second test. After dismissing S.A. for just 266 runs yesterday, Australia started strongly today through Watson and Hughes and by the lunch break they were 169 for no loss just 97 runs short of S.A. total. South Africa yesterday had some solid partnerships but at the end the team collapsed from 241 for 4 to 266 all out loosing last six wickets for just 25 runs. Kallis made stroke full54 of just 41 balls, A.B. de Villiers 64 and Prince 50. Prince and De Villiers had a good partnership of 112 runs for the fifth wicket but when this partnership was broken on 241 the rest of the team collapsed like a pack of cards. Australia at the moment is in a strong position as it was in the first test. Let us see how the things fold up as the match progresses.

Hi msdivkar, Thanks for the update. Looks like Australia are gaining upper hand in this test match, but you never know what could happen in cricket. Who would have ever imagined a score of 21/9, and that too from Australia. BTW, Hughes has just been dismissed for 88 and Khawaja the new man in, score reads Aus 185/1 as I type.

I feel that this match is also going to have an interesting end. Now Australia 233 for five, and they are trail by 33 runs. Michael Hussey and Brad Haddin is on the crease. Dale Steyn picked up the wickets of Ricky Ponting and Usman Khawaja.

South Africa collapsed after a good start on Day 1 of the 2nd Test match. Australia also repeated the same pattern and after a great start, collapsed on the second day. Australia managed to get a lead of 30 odd runs, but now the match heads towards the interesting 2nd innings!! Cheers! Ram

Bad light having the last laugh in the end in what could have been an intriguing end to the day's play. Nevertheless, today is going to be exciting cricket and how SA plays in the second innings will probably decide the outcome of the match.

Yes, South African team all out for just 266 runs. Only Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers and Ashwell Prince were batted well. Australian bowlers performed a good job. Peter Siddle got three and Michael Clarke and Nathan Lyon got two wickets each.

Aus crumbling now, 266/8, scores level. But remains to see how much of a lead is enough, certainly they are not going to get a huge lead. It remains to be seen how much score SA can put up in the second innings and perhaps try to set Aus a stiff target. We can expect in the remaining days some exciting cricket.
