My laptop become strange, the time is incorrect after I did not use it for about a week. The time stop at exactly one week ago. Did someone experience this? Does it related to the small battery which is usually present at every motherboard? If so how to check it without dismantle the laptop? Thanks everyone..

It can be the internal one but it can also be the external one. I had that issue. The internal one is slightly powered by the external one when the laptop is closed. But when the external one is failing the internal one might power off too after a long while. Try checking that one too, though it would be obvious if it was, mine showed obvious signs of failure. Else it means it's either the internal battery or a bios issue. All in all if it's not the external battery it's a motherboard issue.

Now it is working fine as usual. I am afraid that it is motherboard issue like you said. Because if I conclude from all of the comments, the time should be still wrong in the case of battery issue. But still will try to change the battery next week, which might prevent from further motherboard failure. Good day everyone.

I think it`s better if you don`t replace your CMOS battery.Don`t open your laptop just for that if you never opened it before .It`s better if you correct the time every time you use your laptop than opening it when you don`t know what you are doing.

it must be CMOS battery issue.. just replace it.. it will work fine.. one more thing you can check from BIOS.. is it showing right time? I guess it doesn't..

I would agree with most of the responses you have gotten so far. A week ago, I noticed the time changing on my laptop. It would always go back 1 hour so I asked my brother and he said it was a virus. I deleted an app that was "emotions for messenger" and the next time I turned on my computer, it told me I had a problem and did an entire scan of my system. The result was a virus that had gotten into many of my programs. My antivirus and microsoft got rid of it....thankfully before it got into everything and damaged my computer.

i have ever had such condition when i got married, i didint use my laptop for more than aweek and when i used it anymore it ddint run well. i think it is because the laptopt was dirty inside, dust, and bad weather which hit my laptop. i think it doent have anything to do with the battery

You should replace your cmos battery. Or before that, try to set up your time in bios setting. And then, restart your laptop. If the time still go wrong, i recommended you to replace your cmos battery then. Hope this help you.

Yup, that related with your battery (CMOS battery). You can fix it with your control panel, Just that simple. Happy lotters
