How Can We Bring Back the Family-Unit as Basic Building-Block of Society?

I would ask the television-broadcasters to 'censor' the singles' life, to renew their anti-singles policy (if they ever had one ... you know, the way that all sitcoms featured 'Mother, Father & Children' in the lead-character's personal-life?) and flood the cable with adapted family units. It's up to the broadcasters! What do you think? What should our plan be.

You can't. You all are watching big screen tv's everywhere around you, are sitting behind your computer, laptop, ebook or whatever, have jobs and are way too busy with yourself. Most are not even have breakfast and dinner together, cooking yourself starts to get rare also. Kids are just in the way or there to taken to daycare, schools, gym, birthdayparties etc. If you really want family life back you better go live in Africa or so.. in the middle of nowhere, where you learn to take care of yourself and eachother. Grow your own food, walk miles to get some water, do your laundry by hand and dont call a doctor if you need one.

I don't think you have to be quite that extreme but you can take control of your home so that there aren't screens in every room for people to watch seperately. When I was growing up there was none of it, we had one TV in the living room which was also the only room that was warm in the winter. I think people need to see that living in separate rooms isn't freedom but almost a form of solitary confinement!

You're right, H! WUK gave us a very cynical answer, very grown-up (shows us why Christ said that 'to enter the kingdom of Heaven, we must become like children.' Children KNOW, 'If I'm good, people will try to be more like me.' Grown-ups KNOW, 'Nobody cares how good I am unless it is profitable to them to know.' Either way, be good and profitable to EVERYONE ELSE and you will find the 'good left in the world' and -will build upon it!

I think that if we want to bring back the family unit as the basic building block of society, then we should start at home. We should lead by example and put our family first in our lives by making time for family activities, even simple ones like eating dinner together at the dinner table while discussing the events of the day. Of course, I do think that the media should have family programming and educational shows, but I do not think they are responsible for the decline of the family unit.

The decline STARTED with the tv-sitcoms, though. Like I told my friends at bible-study the other day, they wore-out the family-unit through KGB-style hypnosis---continually immersing us in their singles-centric worldview! True, parents-etc. SHOULD teach their children that family-unit remains supreme; but that WOULD be easier if the singles-units were eliminated.

We cannot bring it back easily, a family as a basic unit of the community for Now... it seems that it is the sickness of the society and if can be heal true times..As for me with this generation i cannot make it...but starting with my little kids now and for them to reap what i will sow then it would be better...i cannot turn the media easily for what they wanna do with their program but i have the power to choose whats the best program for my kids that will rooted them the good values in life that they can bring up to their mature age...
