Well, I still have yet to get my pane of glass replaced from the contractors from when they installed all new windows 4 weeks or so ago. Now they sent out an electrician today for my light fixture. This photo shows my new light fixture installed and looks great with the new siding. Now I wait till Monday November 28th hoping they come to install the cracked glass. Have you ever get contarctors do a job in a timely manner? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

i have always been very lucky with contractors so far, but I have seen other people with very slow workers and paying good money for it, there are some very slow workers around, by the way I love your porch light, its very good looking.

When my first husband was ill we could not get anyone to come out and do anything. Not repair the dishwasher, not put in brand new air conditioning units, not fix the roof, not rewire a thermostat. I had cash money in hand. I was even told by one company that "We do not have time for new customers". You know, I take my business out of town rather than go to that company. Now, with the economy so tough, if we need something done, companies come out. Even if we suggest we would like to make payments. Funny how going hungry affects small busisness.

My town is so small that there is usually about three choices for any trade. When I go "out of town" for someone it is often the next town six miles over. People are more motivated it seems over there.

I myself prefer to do business locally. It's easier as we live in a metropolitan area so there's literally hundreds of comapnies for contract work. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

they are so slow, we still don't have addresses on our door after a year. I am leaving this place because the landlord won't fix the electricty. I am waiting on a low rental.

So far it looks like lilaclady knows a good contractor, and that is very rare indeed. See, I have lived in this community for over 20 years. It wasn't built up like it is now, so I have seen construction going on and in all the ones I know, there is always something that stops the work. Even now, my neighbor is adding a room to her house, and the work was supposed to be done by Labor Day, needles to say, it isn't.. Plus, I am sure you remember my nightmare with my BIL, who started work on my house about 13-15 years ago and there are still places where it isn't finished.. I think we need to force lilaclady to give up the name and number of her contractor... LOL

That's our problem with our workers at home. They were made to fix the roof of our house, the ceiling and the repainting of the ceilings. Yet, they are always absent hence, until now they still have yet to finish some repainting. We are so disappointed that we decided to have the other renovations in the house done by workers who lives just within the city.

well, Sears gave us a 2 hour window of delivery on Monday the 14th and then they ran off without delivering the new fridge! If they had FAILED to deliver the next day, they wouldn't had to take it back and take the charge off my card and FORGET about my ever coming back!

yes, it should be that way. when they say they will fix it should be on time or else it is free of charge. they are licensed and very much reliable.

I have found that usually it takes longer then they project. The only time it was done in a timely manner is when I got my new furnace last year....but when I did some remodeling it took a few days longer then expected.

I have managed to get some good guys to attend to my computer, television, cooking range, and any electrical work that needs attention. But for anything else unless it is a new job they will not turn up. I therefore literally create a new job so that they can attend to the other small things that need attention.

Hello I think that the work given on the basis of contract goes faster than the work done on daily wages basis.Because in contract they get their payment on the completion of work which they can do early or late.By saving some days in work, they can utilize that time somewhere else because their payment is going to same either they work more time or less. While in other case on daily wages basis, the payment is done daily so the workers make the work late so that they can get more money out of it. It always happens to me that my work is get done in less time by contract.
