Do the holidays bring you down?

With the christmas season fast approaching I am finding myself down. I am having issues shopping for gifts, and trust me I never have had a problem before. I thought that if I started decorating then it would lighten my mood some. It has not. I am normally a very excited person for the holidays but this year I am having difficulties. I always host christmas at my house and am not sure how it is going to go this year if I am feeling this bad. I have medical issues and I know that this is having some of an effect but that is not all. How do you handle the holidays? Are you cheerful or down?

I started out feeling sad because my husband has lost his job and I was so afraid that we would not be able to do anything, but now that we are living with my parents, my brother, my sister and her four kids things have turned around a little. My husband and I have not been able to find work, but we had a Christmas club and the check came in early and that is what we are using for Christmas shopping. I am now excited because I do not have to worry about money.

Well it is good to hear that things are going better for you. I also have had trouble financially but there is nothing to help us out. We do get a little hamper for christmas but it is not much. I am glad we get it though. It is really hard with the kids as they would like to recieve gifts they want and we can not afford them. All of their friends get all these cool gifts and our kids get cheap gifts. I suppose that this does not help me with being happy.

My parents are taking it well. My husband and I are not handeling it well because my sister has four kids and the younger two are always yelling and screaming and yet my sister does not do anything about it. My sister also swears at her kids which really upsets Randy and I.

I"ve been like that for a few years now. Used to..when I had my kids at home, I started the saturday after T-day to decorate. But now with the kids gone..just isn't any fun anymore. I don't enjoy decorating for just me to look at...I do all the work, getting out and putting away...for what? Me to look at? No, not worth it to me. No kids, no fun! I miss doing the stockings the most. ANd I miss the baking. Now, if I bake it, I eat it and I can't be doing that! But I have no holiday spirit.

I do have my kids here, I really hope that I come out of this soon. I also know that they have those small pre decorated/lit trees out there as my mother in law has one. This way you do not have to do alot.

Thanks for the suggestions stowyk. I play christmas music all year round cause it is uplifting! But this year...just doesn't do it for me! I did put up some decorations last week..but it wasn't much fun. And since I have moved, there are not many lighted houses out here in the desert! I'll get over it...things happen in life and if I don't...I had lot of nice christams over the past years..so I am not complaining..just working on a change of life! I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday time with all the trimmings! You to lisa0502~

For some people Christmas is very stressful, but this year I will say I am done and dusted early, so less stressed.Next year I am getting vouchers off a friend that I can get all my christmas shopping with, also a few extra things for myself.I know a few people that feel like you do, for many different reasons, some people due to health, other people due to a family member not being here any more and others as they can not buy what they would like for family members.
