I received a text message from the agency where I applied for a customer service representative in Australia. They are inviting me to undergo Psychometric Test to qualify for a final interview. I was asked to bring P1,500.00 for payment. I replied and asked if the payment is for the test or other requirements. I am getting confused if this job post is legit or not. If the payment is for the test, why do I need to pay? Does psychometric test costs P1,500.00? For additional information, I checked the agency and it has a valid POEA license. Please advise me what to do for this is my first time to apply for a job abroad.

If you are looking for a job and them someone asks you to pay some money it is usually somehow questionable. You can try to ask around, maybe you can find someone who have gone through the same process. Otherwise, it is a bit tricky.

That's correct! They did not issue a receipt but collected money from applicants.

They hired two from 14 applicants, but all of them paid for the test. They said it's a fee for psychologist who will analyze the result of the test.

In what way you can pay them? You should be careful in paying, you are not sure of it then you should keep eye and do research about them, maybe you should also give a call to POEA for confirmation of their status of legitimacy.Always inquire and ask for your receipt if happens that you will send them your payment.Just always be careful, the amount is not easy to earn.

That's correct! There should be a receipt, and this receipt should be a valid one.

I know that POEA does not approve charging any fees to applicants unless they are already hired and sure to depart however many agencies even if they are licensed do not really follow this rule. I suggest you consult the POEA on this matter and also do check if this agency really have job orders for Australia. That is the best thing you can do to avoid being scammed. Having a valid POEA license is not an assurance that the agency does not fool. Most of them actually requires applicants to undergo medical examination even if they are not really going to hire because they want to earn rebates from medical examination. Be careful!

Thank you for that information. Yes. That is correct! Why is there a need to undergo a medical examination if not yet hired?

My advise for you dig info a little bit deeper about it. I ever once got deceived. The representative of the job where I sent my application asked me to pay the medical check up and I paid without having to think if the process I had been through must pass or not. Finally, I knew I got deceived by them, because the address medical store where I had to do my medical check up could not be found. The fact that they're scam and since from the beginning, I did not notice about it. I think it is better for you to go and ask to Australian embassy about the job you're going to work with. It is easier than you're confused with or suspicious to others.

Verify with POEA this agency; ask if it doesn't received complaints in the past, gather more information...then, re-evaluate your decision.

Please be aware of scams even agancies have POEA license you have to verify it. I don't think an agency has to ask money right away, If you qualify they will negotiate first that you have to take this exams and all processing but you will pay later. I don'think as well that psychometric test only cost P1,500. It is your sole responsibility to double check the offer and verify the legitimacy of this agency. Good luck.

I never heard such test. The only thing i know from experience is that you only have to go through a medical test but thats if you already hired. Anyway you can always ask or inquire POEA regarding that. You must know that its not enough to know if its licensed because there are agency that are licensed but have bad records and you must remember that there's no payment collection thats what POEA always reminds everybody. It might be a scam so be careful. Goodluck!

That's correct! I have already checked with POEA. They encourage applicants to always check with them job offers and agencies. If we have any complaints, we can immediately seek help from legal department.

I don't really know the fees people pay when they're applying for a job in another country. Try calling POEA or DOLE and ask if these are valid fees you need to pay. It doesn't hurt to be too careful about these things.

I think that if you are applying for the job, they will have to pay for all the test requirements not you paying for it. I suggest you check for the agency from the POEA itself and check if you really have pay for this test. It might turn out to be a scam. Try to apply for some other agencies that pays for these instead of you shelling out cash for it. You are looking for a job to get paid so I don't think that you have to pay them just to get a job. Just a thought.

You are correct! How come we'll pay for the job? Even tests shouldn't be paid by appplicants. It sounds like tests in school.
