We are having this really fun debate here at the Carpenter house! It involves the Sweet Potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Some of us (Epecially me) want candied sweet potatoes. Others (Like my son in law) say that candied Sweet Potatoes are an every day side item, and sweet potato casserole is for those special occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas! Then there are others (like my father in law) who say "Make Both"! Which will you have to go along with your turkey or ham? OOO...that gives me another idea for a Post! LOL Also, does anyone have a really good recipe for Sweet Potato Casserole that is Sugar Free? Would love for you to share if you do!

Sweet potato is considered a standard on the Thanksgiving Day table. But then again some people prefer the candied sweet potatoes. You can find recipes for both here: http://allrecipes.com/Search/Recipes.aspx?WithTerm=sweet+potato+casserole I use this site first when I'm looking for any type of recipe. It's loaded with good stuff.

Oh, and I'm sure you could search there for a sugar free version. Or you can adapt one yourself. The artificial sweetener sites could give you the equivalents.

I hope you mean real sweet potatoes and not yams. i used to make yams from a can with brown sugar and marshmellows in the oven. the kids liked it ok of course. then my last, late hubby said yuck. he would buy real sweet potatoes and peel them, put in the brown sugar and marshmellows and that was 100 percent better. yum.

We don't really like sweet potatoes, so neither, however, if different people in your family like it prepared different ways, then I say, prepare a number of sweet potato dishes in all the ways that they like 'em. That way you'll please everyone. If it's too much work for you, then have the fussy family members help out with the preparation.

I say candied sweet potatoes! I am not a fan of sweet potato casserole but I love candied sweet potatoes. I will eat sweet potatoes any time of the year, but they are better at the holidays.
