Day 2: Fall housecleaning for company.

Yesterday I worked all day on cleaning the house. I am having Thanksgiving this year and wanted everything to look good. I also bought a few things for my house to freshen it up like a new shower curtain, rugs, and pillows for the love seat. Do you spend extra time and money on your home when you are expecting company? I love getting up this morning to a house that just shines!

When expecting company I will spend more time on the house. But, usually don't spend anymore money on purchasing items for the house. I will pull out items I haven't used in sometime and put them out for display. I might pick up some new artificial flowers to spruce up my older ones with a little brightness in color to give it a bit of a change in the look.

Yes it definitely works, and it looks like you slaved over getting everything ready. With a little added color here or there, the whole room can look completely different.

Yes, if it is important company. This Thanksgiving we are probably only expecting FIL, so I do not need to clean that much for him. Haven't had any important company in a long time. Hope you get to spend a part of your staycation relaxing though!

A clean house, now that is nice. We don't entertain any longer. Several months ago our stove and oven were disconnected because there was an issue with how the old connections actually connected to the gas line. The gas company came out to the house and shut them down. We didn't bother to buy new ones but will have to eventually. Cooking is not my "bag." I love people and don't mind them stopping by to visit. We can serve drinks to friends and family in place of food! lol

Right now I am taking a break from cleaning my craft room again...after getting ready for the craft sale it was just too disorganized. I am getting rid of alot of things....So a clean house is nice.....I just have too much stuff and getting company is motivation for me to pitch or donate things.

Our place is way too small for company, so if we want to see people, we either go to their place, a restaurant, or the cafe up the street. LOL This place is just big enough for two people. there is hardly any sunlight in here since we live in the basement, and we like an excuse to get out of here now and then.

Sounds like you have been really busy. I never buy things for the house just because company is coming over. I'm usually too busy just focusing on cleaning the house and tidying up. I will buy a few new items through the year though to spruce up the house a bit. I just bought a new bathroom throw rug the other week. Exciting right? I could really use some new pillows for the couch though. That is next on my list.

Unfortunately, I'm not one that is big on cleaning up the house because of the fact that when you have small children in your home it is virtually impossible to keep the house clean. With that said, I try to clean up in the house on a regular basis, but I am not able to keep the house spotless.
I also don't typically have company that I'm expecting so I don't do heavy cleaning simply because I have someone that I'm expecting to show up.
