Down to One Cat

Well, we found a home for Oliver with my BFF. My renter in my trailer kept Misty. So now Chester is the only cat we have here in Pendleton. I told my renter that we would take Misty back if she wasn't happy with him or vice versa. We are due to go back to John Day on the 30th for a court date on the 1st. While there I will check in on my renter and see how things are going. We will also pick up a few things that we had to leave behind on the first trip here. Chester has become more affectionate since the move...and he was pretty affectionate to begin with! I think I like having him as the only cat in the house. Of course, since being in the motel we have not let him out of the room and he has been perfectly content with that. I suspect the big barking dogs outside the room have had something to do with Chester's being happy indoors. I will be happy to get us all into our own place, though, and I'm sure Chester will be happier, as well. I'm just relieved not to have three cats anymore!

hi dear alaskanray I am trying my best to play catch up with all the notifications and e mails which have piled up here so thats my explanation for the late answer and I was not even moving anywhere...... Thats nice to know Misty seems to be happy and so is Chester getting all the attention he can get. Also hope that you have moved into your permanent place by now as you told in one of your other discussions.

Yes, we are all moved in although the place has a lot of work to be done on it. My bathroom still needs a new floor and bathtub. Eventually I will need to get new windows, as well, but at least we are here and have heat. I will keep you posted. After a week without the internet, I have a pile of catching up to do of my own.

I couldn't give up my Oliver, but we raised him from a week old - kind of different. I am wondering how things are going looking for a place to live and all...

We found a trailer we can afford but the park has really strict background checks so we're waiting on hearing on that. Once they give us the green light, we'll be in like Flynn!

I could never have left a pet of mine with another person, as i would worry if they were being cared for properly.I f it was a person that i had known years and did know that they had pets that they had cared for, then i would feel more at ease, rather than someone i was not sure of.It must have been hard to leave the cat.

It's never easy to leave a beloved pet behind but sometimes it is necessary. It's hard enough finding housing with one pet...two or more makes it that much more difficult. Chester is loving having me to himself and I will be checking on Misty when we go down on Wednesday. If she isn't happy with my renter, I'm sure he'll gladly let me have her back. But I think she will be happier there with the home she has had all her life than here in strange territory where she can't go outside whenever she wants. I left her kitty door there with her, too, so she can go in and out as she pleases and I'm sure she's happier without Chester bullying her.
