Black Friday Shoppers

I can't believe how Christmas has become more about the bargain you can get then about the real reason we celebrate Christmas. First of all to see on video the amount of people on Thanksgiving evening in a store is crazy. I'm also in shock that a female or anyone for that matter would pepper spray a bunch of shoppers just to get an Xbox. What on earth is this world coming too?? I really wish the stores would do away with Black Friday once and for all. In fact I think Black Friday should be conducted only online. For the past four or five years people are either being trampled on and your killed. Now we have someone pepper spraying other customers. Were you a shopper on Black Friday and if so how did the people act?

I have been a black friday shopper before but this year I sit it out. I saw on the news how people were camping out even before Thanksgiving to be the first in the doors. They were also starting early at some places this year...like 10pm Thanksgiving night. I thought..this is gonna be a heck of a year out there. Nope...no Black Friday shopping for me.

I get out of work around 11:30. I live right by Walmart which opened at 10pm. Traffic was crazy. I cut through McDonalds parking lot to get to my apartment. I was surprised to see them open on Thanksgiving. Wendy's was closed. Well, McDonalds knew what they were doing for sure. It was packed. The drive thru had a huge line and inside was packed as well.

@ sid...yes that McDonald's is always racking in the dough...lol...rain, shine, sleet. or snow you can get a double cheeseburger. @Lelin...I will be doing some shopping but I'm not going out there to be stressed and mad...we have enough things that make us feel that way..lol...without adding a Black Friday showdown.

To JenIn TN -Good for you! I have never been a black friday shopper and never will be. I rather shop online then deal with the stupidity of people acting crazy and being down right rude and nasty. To sid556 You did the right thing to go right home. That is exactly what I would have done then dealing with crowds and long lines. I don't understand how so many people feel the need to put themselves through such nonsense.

For me online shopping its the only way I will do my Christmas shopping. I can't deal with Black Friday and any other day when it comes to this time of year.

Even if I were physically able to get out and go shopping, there is NO WAY I would face the crazies and all of the crowds! UGH! I hate the bustle, the jostling, the rudeness and just trying to get around the crush of people and shopping carts.

Yes I think just dealing with the crowds and long lines would make me tired and disgusted. Can't be bothered.

I agree, it's gotten way out of control. When people will injure others for a bargain, society has officially gone insane. I don't understand such thinking but I do know they have lost something valuable inside themselves. I hate that Christmas has been turned into something that Jesus preached against--selfishness, pride and greed. We even teach it to our children as soon as they can open a package. How horribly sad! When I was little we got a couple of gifts, something we wanted if my parents could afford it, but nothing huge. The focus of Christmas was the beautiful Christmas Eve candlelight service and the visiting family on Christmas day. Making cookies for neighbors and shut-ins, singing carols at school, making gifts for friends and relatives...it was fun, busy and always we thought about giving more than receiving. I'm so sad to see what Christmas has become. It will always be a birthday celebration in my own heart, thank God.

Hi,lelin~ Haven't been a part of your discussions for a long time~ Wow,now they are using pepper spray? That is crazy...We don't have Black Friday here although I did see some activities on Paypal's website.Shoppers sometimes can be crazy when discount is concerned.Last time I went to a shopping mall and there was one shop doing 50% and 60% discount for boots, and man,it was soooo crowded. Anyway, have a nice day~

Welcome back, Hope you are doing good!I don't want to go into a crowded store at anytime of the year let alone on Black Friday. Can't deal with long lines or crowds. I don't care what discounts they are giving.

I did not go shopping on black Friday. It is just too crazy for me to even want to try it. I don't know what it is about a bunch of sales that cause normally nice people to go over the edge. It shocks me just seeing the news reports on the events.

I never like huge crowd. I have never tried shopping on black friday, i don't care if I miss a huge sale. When I shop, I want to relax, enjoy and be comfortable!

I'm the same way I don't like crowds and or dealing with long lines. I'm happy sitting at my computer shopping for good deals. I can eat and shop all at the same time.

I went out on Black Friday one time... and that was enough. It was crazy. I hate being in huge crowds of people anyway, and people get vicious on Black Friday. Now I stay home and do a little online shopping. Much safer and a lot more relaxing!

I had 90 percent of my shopping done before Thanksgiving and all done on line. I was also able to get 4 gifts free due to points on a credit card. I was also able to get free shipping due to spending a certain amount. So that saves me alot of money. It is more relaxing then dealing with rude people who act like animals in the stores.

Hiya lelin, We don´t have Black Fridays here at all before Christmas. In fact most of what they have in the Sales is stuff from other Years so I don´t bother about that. I don´t go rushing out and stand in queues for those kind of things. I know some People here will stay out the night before in the freezing cold to be there when the Doors open and the Sales start. They can be very aggro as well and a lot of fights can go on but I have never heard anyone use Pepper Spray as yet although hitting each other and verbal abuse is rife that I have seen and heard about. I do like Sales but not in the big Stores if I can help it. Was hoping to get most of my Furniture in the Winter Sales but I was forced to buy way before then so it has cost me much more than I would care to admit but at least I had enough money to buy it all.xxx
