infuriating incident at the church

Last Sunday, I went to church in the morning alone, since my husband is still so sleepy from having slept at 1:00 am already, because of something he has to do. I couldn’t help my self from getting annoyed with the sweethearts in their mid 20’s who sat beside me. All the while the girl was putting her shoes on the kneeling pad. In addition, she and her boyfriend would seat whenever we are told to kneel. Lastly, they are embracing one another. I couldn’t help glaring at them ,specially the girl, but they have no shame! I controlled myself from telling them to stop doing those things , but then after the mass, i am bothered that I didn’t do anything to at least tell them. But then, on second thought, they might retort "mind your own business". If you were in my shoes, would you have kept silent also ? What’s your say guys?

I guess they were stretching your patience to the limit. As Christian ,the church is a holy and pure place, what possessed them to do such a thing? didn't they blaspheme against God? They might not as well be converted to God as do so.

That's what i am thinking. They shouldn't have gone to church if they are disrespectful , like that to the church. Oh, i hate such kind of people.

In my opinion, those types of teenagers are the ones not properly brought up by their parents. I thank God, our daughter has been brought up to have good manners and is God fearing! When we went to church with her boyfriend , when we were in Manila for their graduation, both of them are so behaved and focused in participating in the mass.

that is soo disgusting! i hate seeing lovers who would publicly display their affection for each other. all the more when they are in church! very inappropriate! if i were in your shoe maybe i could have spoke to them so that they would stop what they are doing. cause i am in authority. but with my age now. i can't do it. lol! i'm just their age. it might create a scene if i do that.

I controlled myself from speaking to them, lest my emotion will let me speak words that can hurt. I think, they gor my attention when i passed by them to take a communion. I said rather heavily, "EXCUSE ME". After i returned, i noticed they stopped the PDA.

lol! i think they needed a little reprimanding for them to stop what they are doing. should have done earlier so you won't be disturbed. if i were in your place i would not go back to my place. i can't take that "kabalastugan" any longer.

Why could they have the guts to do that? Well, nothing is wrong with expressing love to another person. I even witnessed lovers having a kiss in front of me before but I regard it as a heaven sent than an infuriating instance. Every time I recall them kissing, I just couldn't see that they feel what they are doing, though. It's just like every thing was made up and against their will. As time passed, that memory of them kissing did not bother me that much until I read your discussion. Memories can be buried but not unrecoverable. The rule in times like those is to not act and mention what is happening in a public place and keep mum about it. Until now, I did not regret remaining silent upon seeing those lovers.

There's a proper place in showing our affection to our partner my friend. The church is not one of them. I just hope people can understand that.

I would glare like what you did but i think i'll never say anything to them. I wonder what their purpose in going to church at all. Do they listen to the sermon or they just wanted to be together because the church is the only place their parents allowed them to? I don't really like those people who use the church as a rendezvous.

Yes, Toni, we could only glare at them, lest in our annoyance we will tell them something hurtful. Why on the first place will they go to the church if they will not abide by its rule, kneeling when it's time to . Most of all, they should have refrained from doing those PDA because they are now old enough to discern, that such is not nice to look at, in the church and the church is a sacred place.

hello there my friend, it's been a while, been busy... Well, that gesture of not kneeling when its time to kneel is a no-no to our parish priest here. He would always see to it that every one is kneeling before he will continue with the mass. To those who are hard headed, he would frankly say that they should kneel when he say so. Yeah, you read it right, we have a very strict parish priest.

Nice of your parish to have a strict parish priest, wheng. At least, he want everybody to behave properly when in church, which should be the proper thing to do. Yes, i noticed that you haven't been here at Mylot the past days. Welcome back.

Just do what you have to do and ask God for his guidance and help. In no time, they will all be okay one by one.

A similar thing has happened to me before. What I did then was transferred to another seat, far away from the "temptation". I refer to "distracting" things like that inside the Church as temptations, because I remember my elders and some priests saying that such things only keep our attention and focus away from the celebration of the mass. But I know what you mean. Those 2 should not have done their public displays of affection inside the Church and during the mass.

I would have stayed silent too, it is the place of the church officials to say something about it.

Yes you are correct, my friend. I think, i should have told the church officials about it after the mass, so they can caution & announce to the parishioners before every mass , not to have their PDAs inside the church. In addition, they can also remind them to take care & respect the church facilities , like the kneeling pad.

simplyD Perhaps in re. to kneeling if they were protestants we do not kneel like that. But they should have taken their amour making some place else as its not appropriate in any church. But I would have left admonishing them to the church officials myself. too bad they were not taught how to behave in a place of worship.

I am just wondering if they are of different religion, why would they go to attend our mass, Hatley?

I will just stare at them meaningful that I don't like what i'm seeing.. and go far away with that "obstruction" because I won't do my thing inside the church solemnly with somebody like them around.

I just don't mind them. But each time we kneel and see them sitting down instead of kneeling i couldn't help but get annoyed.

Hmmmn I usually keep it to myself. Shame on me I gave them a wondering look,, and find other people giving them a look, too. I think that some couples can instantly read our mind when we get them a strange look. Some of them know that we are trying to tell them that what they're doing is inappropriate. Although there were some who just don't care.

I think they were thinking that they are in a park instead of being inside the church. YOu should have told them to be proper because they are not in the proper place to PDA.

I really felt like telling them, but i controlled myself, because i might say other things to them out of my annoyance.
