I know it was one of you on mylot who has stolen my letter A!! And i have FOUR people at the top of my list as to who it may be!!! I know you are all thinking what is this one mad lady talking about now!!!!! Well..... you will know that my pc has come out of the ark, so that includes the keyboard as well, well I have pressed the letter A so many times it has totally rubbed off the keyboard!!!! I have to look at the keyboard while I'm typing with TWO fingers to make sure I make "some" sort of sense to you my friends. MY QUESTION is do you have to look at the keyboard while you are typing on the keyboard who can you type as if there are no letters on the keyboard and get it right the whole time? I don't think I will ever be able to type with a blank keyboard Does that question make some sort of sense from this one mad crazy lady??? SO....... has anyone seen my letter "A"? Please. I wonder which letter will totally rub off next??? Love your totally mad crazy insane and anything else you can add to that Your pal Anne18

You clearly type your name far too often, Qnne! I nearly always look at the keyboard when I type but it looks something like this: QW¯^ YU ^P{} ^?DFGHJK|;@~ ZXCVB |, / It really is time I got a mrw kwybptd!

As you say, Louievill, the elves only have to write the names once a year!

Good evening owlwings, loving santa but already missing the owlwings. I never thought about that I could be typing my name far too often.... but it might not be my fault as five of us share the one nad only pc in the house!! So I think we shall all have to share the blame, won't we? You do make me laugh

hey Santa (a.k.a. owlwings) how do you expect the children to get the right presents with their names and addresses on it if you type that way?, might create a mix up , on second thought I think the elves would be more than willing to write them down manually

ah I see, I learned to type in a conventional typewriter when I was in high school so missing letters does not really mean much to me, but I would suggest that you cut out a letter "A" on one of those glossy magazines ( more durable than a newspaper) and stick it to that "A" key LOL and protect it with something like scotch tape or varnish hahahah... not unless you would like to replace your key board altogether friend. My problem is more of when keys lose electronic contact due to dirt and humidity, so I'm puzzled when I knew I pressed it already and it's not there so I have to go back and retype

Hi louie...how are you doing? Well I hope, I never did typewriting at school, didn't choose it as I was going ot do nursing. I still type wrong even though I look at the keyboard all the time, I think because I can only type with two fingers I try to go far too fast and my fingers and brain just can't keep up with each other!!LOL

yeah so do as I suggested, cut out an "A" from a glossy magazine and stick it on the key to serve as a guide for you, you can cover it with colorless nail polish if you want, the same thing my wife uses if she wants to look beautiful for me, cause it already comes with a small brush, guess this would fix you guidance problem. Yeah I'm doing just fine and hope you are too.

Typing is absolutely second nature to me. I can type 120 words a minute, and I don't even have to look at the keyboard. The rare occasions when you see typos out of me here on MyLot, I'm probably typing with one finger on my iPhone. LOL I learned how to type in school, and it's a skill I have used a lot during my lifetime, and will continue to use. If I tried to type your way, it'd take me FOREVER! LOL

I dare not think how many words I can type in a minute, although I can be quite fast even with two fingers once I get going but then my brain works faster sometimes than my fingers and I can't go fast enough. Good job it doesn't take you forever, but I know no difference do I? Do you type for your job? I never needed to type for any of the jobs I have done, just type for fun on here and e mails

Hi Anne if you took a typing class in a classroom likely you would have typewriters with no letters. on the black board is the hand positions for both hands. If you once learn that you will watch the screen like I am doing and not look at the keyboard as your brain and fingers will find the letters as your fingers learn which finger hits which letters and you will not look at your keyboard. when I do look at my keyboard is when I make errors. if I keep my eyes here on the monitor's screen I will make no errors. I have my a but I don't see your A anywhere. lol

I suppose I could give it a try, a new goal and something to do when the children have gone off places. Do you know any websites etc? Then I can ask hubby if I can do it, only because of bugs on the pc, not to ask his permission. I hate to say this but you are one of the four who I think may have stolen my letter "A". So perhaps you stole it and it is now on yuor floor hiding!!!!!! Perhaps you better have a good look and if you have it please return it to me as soon as possible!!!LOL

this is really funny to me specifically today. I do not look at the keyboard most of the time when I type. I am a freelance writer so that would cost me very valuable time! But I do glance down now and then and here and there! Well, the trouble is that my R has rubbed off and looks like a P. I know where the P is.. but when I look down at the keyboard I hit the R for P half the time now!! I have no idea why I think the R is a P!!! I know very well where the keys are! lol!

I write about many different things. I have my own ministry for which I write some materials and I write for others. It depends on what my clients need. I write some for an SEO company and lots of other things. I would say - to train yourself to not look at the keyboard! lol! It takes away much time if you have to look back and forth. It's worth the effort to learn the keyboard well!!

I'm able to write quite fast but I have to take a look on the keyboard while I'm writing. Hope in the near future I will lose this habit and I will write without looking. It means that I have to learn the position of letter on keyboard by heart. Good exercise for my memory.

I won't worry, just means I'm a bit or rather slow and my fingers can't always keep up with the pace my brain works so I make mistakes even while looking at the keyboard

If the A key up and gone missing, I can't advise you as I don't know what to do about that except purchase a new keyboard. If you are simply not seeing the A on the key that should be wearing a proud A, you or a friend can draw the letter A on the key that is missing its A using a permanent inked Sharpie. Good luck in dealing with your A-less keyboard.

It must have been the same person that got my "N." I have no N on my key anymore and yes..I do have to look every now and again for moral support The funny thing is that if I'm not thinking about it, I don't even look at the keyboard and do fine but if I am trying not to look, I have to look. If you find your A...see if they got my N.

I remember when I was a teen, and just hanging out at home during the summer that I picked up an old rickity typewriter to practice my typing. I knew then that it would be a skill that would be beneficial one day. So now I type without even looking. [i]Don't look at me! I didn't steal your "A"!

Hi Anne18 That's interesting. My teacher for typing in high school at first had us looking at the keyboard in order to get our hand positions correct. Then she made us cover the keyboard and type so we could read a document and type it at the same time. Now that I use a computer I find myself using the look at the screen method, ignoring where my hands are for the most part, but I do find myself looking at the keyboard from time to time. In fact, I typed this entire response without looking at the keyboard. The problem I have is making sure my hands are in the correct location. That is because I have 3 desktop computers in my home, and you don't even want to know how many laptops I have. Let's just say you would need both hands and your feet to count them that way. Oh and by the way, I plead not guilty to stealing your letter "A".

I never did typing at school as I did nursing and didn't need to learn to type for that. I do remeber the girls who did typing doing it the way that you say in your response. Wow you are so clever not ot have to look at the keyboard. NO!!!!!!!!! Please don't tell me how many pc's you have, you must be so very rich!!!! We have a big thing from the ark that we share with the whole five of us in the family, used ot share it with six until eldest daughter moved out!! Oh and by the way I know its not you who has my letter "A", one of the four Hatley has already responsed I'm waiting for the other three to show there faces on this discussion. I think they have gone into hiding!!! Perhaps they are sercetly scared of me!!!!???? Doubt it really don't you?? BUT...... someone has my letter "A"!!!!!! I'm waiting!!!! And I'm very good at waiting!!!!!!! So beware my fellow mylotters, you know who you are, and more importantly "I "know who you are!!!! At least you all know how crazy I am!!!!!LOL

Hopefully by the time I come back here tomorrow pm two things will have happened!!! 1) I will have earnt enough to get paid on mylot and 2) my "A" will be back!!LOL Hopefully fingers crossed number 1 will happen. Hi Anne, you are too funny. There must be a thing with these letter A's right now, as I was having a difficult time getting the A to respond on this keyboard. I think I was hitting it wrong. I have all of these PCs not because I am rich, it's just a hobby of mine. The desktops I use for photo editing and things like that, and of course file storage. Each one is a mirror of the other as far as files go. The laptops are another story. Some of them are netbooks, but most of them are full sized units. Some I bought new, but 7 of them were off lease purchases. What I do with them is add memory and change the hard drives, then run different operating systems on them, a mix of some Windows and some are Linux distributions. I also have 3 Macs because I just like them so well. One of the Lenovo laptops I got off lease had some of the letters worn off on the keyboard, so I replaced it. I do enjoy working on computers as a hobby, and I also do support, both live and in forums. Hope you get that "A" back!

I can type without looking, but if letters were worn off it might throw me off. I have been typing up a storm since grade school so I'm pretty good at it. I decided to test myself now, haven't looked once :) Sometimes I need to look to do numbers or special characters, but in general - nope! I can type type type! And I didn't take your letter A! Why would I when I have my own :-D lol No letters have warn off my keyboard here yet, but I see my laptop "A" is wearing away and that is the only one! Interesting, it shows that letter is used A LOT!

haha this made me laugh.. when you saids your letter A was missing i instantly looked at your username lol!! .. don't ask me why! know i don't look at the keyboard at all when i type. i just watch the words coming up on the screen. i haven't really needed to look at the keyboard for about 4 or 5 of years, maybe longer. i used to be really addicted to online chatting when i was like 16. so maybe thats why lol. i'm one of these people who can also be reading something, and copying it, without looking at the keyboard lol! and i reckon the L will rub off next :)

You are not mad no one can type if there is no letters on the key board. Those who studied typewriting can easily type without looking into the keyboard. The same thing once happened in my keyboard also the shift key doesn't work properly i suffered a lot. At last i brought one new keyboard to work. My dear Anne you please purchase a new keyboard, i think it is better without straining a lot.
