Data entry jobs that require money upfront - are they serious?

Hi guys. I applied for a few data entry jobs but all the replies I received asked me to pay £ 9.99 upfront. Are these serious or just scams? Thanks!

Well, this site is fun, but it does not really pay off the amount of time you spend here. So, I don't really regard it as an income but as means to avoid going crazy at work :)

I have read somewhere that anything which seeks money in order to get paid from it online is a big scam. So just avoid joining it. There are lots of freelance data entry jobs which don't require any type of money.

Sorta kinda not really but in a way. If you read the fine print you'll see those are actually just services that are supposed to put you in contact with the data entry jobs ( or so they say ). Basically your given a list of possible companies who MIGHT need your services if you pay the $9

There is no fine print... only a standard email... a gmail address nevertheless. I think I'll go back to rentacoder :)

No, never pay anything upfront. The amount looks less and i am sure the returns they show is more salary then a software professional is making. Just pass those sites, look for something where you can find genuine assignments. Initially it looks tough to get jobs on internet. But when you become mature enough and develop network on internet i am sure your life become easier. Try freelancer, odesk etc, you might find some thing useful

if any data entry job asks you to pay upfront 99%this is SCAM! you should remember in making money online there's one rule: never pay more than you can afford and never pay anything if there's a chance of loosing it and you can't afford that either. on my profile I have some legit stuff, if you wanna look and happy earning! : ]

I thought so, but I though I'd ask for another opinion :)
