Last Night I Had To Order My Own Present Online!

A few weeks ago me and Mum were in Boots. She bought some new foundation from the Lancome counter and we took the opportunity to look at the ace Gift Sets they sell. Now, there was one in particular I liked but Mum didn't buy it at the time because of the expense of her foundation! However, she went back on one of her days off on Monday (which she doesn't get paid for, the Council forces workers to take 4 days off a month without pay) and these sets had sold out! Oh dear! Not to worry, the assistant told her there could be some left online. Unfortunately, Mum doesn't use a computer so I had to order it from the Boots site instead! It just shows how trustworthy I am though. I have her card details in my possession and I just bought the Gift Set after registerring as..er..my Mum lol. I certainly wasn't tempted to buy anything else as it's not fair on her is it? Anyway, at least the parcel will be going to Mum's house, otherwise - if it came here I'd be opening it before Christmas, which kinda defeats the object. Have you bought any presents for anyone online? I would do this if I had the money. It beats fighting the crowds any day!

It is not our habit to buy somebody present on New Year's Day or other festivals. However at the Spring Festival -the lunar New Year's Day,we usually give some money to children as gift,we call that YASUI(transliteration),in addition we pay New Year calls to elder members of the family.

Yes, the New Year is a BIG THING in China isn't it? What date does it fall on or is it different each year? What animal will it be in 2012?

I am glad that you are interested in it.It depends on lunar calendar ,on the first day of the first month of every lunar year, but differs from year to year in the Gregorian calendar.2012 Spring Festival falls on January 23,2012 and the animal is dragon.

I'm glad that you were able to order your set online. I absolutely love ordering things online it is a lot of fun. I do hate it when things are sold out it makes me really frustrated. I too like ordering things online instead of buying it at the store.

Plus the fact I think Mum visited Boots specially and was a tad disappointed it had sold out. Proves what good value it is though and I'm really pleased I managed to find it on the Boots website.

It makes us feel even better when we know something we like has been sold out but we are still able to get it. Was it a make up gift set that you ordered? Have you tried their almond oil spray set? They are having a good sale with that, that includes a purse and I was wondering if it smells really good?

Hello Janey Yes, last year I ordered Chocolates from Thorntons for my girlfriend's sister that lives in England. Also I ordered from Amazon.com and Amazon.uk for both myself and her sister. I got a Coca Cola Christmas Truck I really liked from ebay once. Oh and my and my girlfriend's computer were both bought online from local traders.

And I bet Amazon.com is miles cheaper than Amazon.uk, am I right? Stuff like iPads are a fortune over here. Glad you got all that stuff! Good for you.

Welcome to the wonderful world of e-commerce. It's addicting really. The money I earn online, I use to purchase stuff online. Since it's really expensive withdrawing money from paypal, I just use it to purchase directly online. The first time I received the item bought from eBay, I was really ecstatic. Very addicting

Tell me about it! Fortunately, I have lots of self-control when it comes to internet shopping, for the simple reason that I haven't got the money to splash about. For that reason I'm actually glad Mum doesn't have a computer as I reckon she'd be addicted to internet shopping by now!

I haven't bought presents for anyone online yet, mostly I buy dresses and stuff for myself , I love shopping and hunting for presents for my family and I guess it would not be as fun as just surfing online...but well, I mostly buy on Nov. so the crowd is not really that thick. Good that you have your present though, and that you didn't order anything else

I know, I'm an absolute angel aren't I? Haha! Yes, November is definitely a better month to go shopping in than December. I dread what the last weekend before Christmas Day is going to be like..and I bet Mum drags me into Town. Oh, well, I don't see her that often so no doubt we'll have a laugh, even if we don't buy anything!

Well, it's going to my Mum's house which means I won't be able to open it until Christmas Day. Woohoo, I can't wait!

I enjoy purchasing things online alot more than i enjoy going into stores (in all honesty i hate shopping) I hate waiting in line and people being pushy about having to get past...or too close. I find that im not really interested in buying things for myself these days...food the necesities but other than those theres nothing im going omg i HAVE to have this. Last christmas i ordered my gift from my mom online after christmas as the gift she had gotten for me - a cover for my ebook reader was for the wrong model. I found the right one and we placed the order. The one she had gotten for me fit either her or one of my sister's ebook readers - luckily so it didnt go to waste as we couldnt return it as she bought it in september.

It's great that the cover could be re-used, so to speak. It's such a hassle sending something back or going into a store with it.

Hi, Janey....I pretty much do all of my shopping online now. Except for groceries mostly. And I even get some few groceries from Amazon; stuff that I can't find at my local grocer. They have some rice blends that aren't ordinarily found in town and I have to get my udon noodles from them. I can't stand or walk for any length of time and have to use the little electric cart when I go out shopping. With the crowds like they are now and the carts being so slow, it is just a chore to try to shop. So, I've found that online shopping is so much more convenient. I try to go only to the well-known venues so I don't get conned into getting fake products. The fraud merchants seem to come out of the wookwork at this time of the year. So, my Christmas shopping is done. Now I can just sit back and wait for Santa.

The internet has opened up a whole new world for people like yourself, that just hate going out for the reasons you describe. Good for you that you've been able to do all that internet shopping. I bet it's just as exhausting (but rewarding at the same time) ordering stuff online! Buying groceries is the only thing we've not ordered online but I know people who do and it's a godsend!

Hi Janey...I do almost all my shopping online, except groceries and clothing. I use Amazon all the time...great prices, and free shipping most of the time. I collect gift cards throughout the year from survey sites and some others, and I use them at Christmas for almost everything. I have no money for Christmas, so if it wasn't for the gift cards, I wouldn't be able to buy anything for anybody. It works great for me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too! Yes, Amazon is my favourite website by far, for purchases. My wireless mouse has had Duracell batteries bought from Amazon in it for about 10 months now (the previous ones came with the mouse and didn't last 5 minutes). If I'd bought them at Poundland I'd be on my 3rd lot at least by now. And yes, the keyboard and mouse were bought from Amazon as well!
