What is going on with these wishes..

Someone emailed me a few weeks ago. Thanking me for wishing them a happy birthday. Then today I got another email thanking me for wishing them a happy birthday. Well both of these people I did not wish a happy birthday.. Matter of fact I had no idea it was their birthday. I don't know if i signed up for this at sometime in the past. Is there something like this? Thanks
