Repetitive Discussions

I think one of the reasons why mylot have provided us a search engine is for us to know whether other members have also created a similar diacussion we are about to make. This way, repetitive discussion can be avoided. However, I dont think many of us make use of the search engine for this purpose. I still see a lot of discussions that are similar to each other. There are evn discussions which are created yesterday and will have a similar one created the nezt day. Idont know if members are just doing this because their queries have not yet been answered on the previous discussion or they are just doing that for the sake of earning.

I think not exactly the same, I doubt whether anyone can start the same discussion knowing that it is not allowed. Maybe be with a little twist from the previous one.

That's it. We can always start a topic with same content-but a little bit of twist. The reason why some are deleted - those are very common topic like -how do you define love -what is love these are very common, but we cannot blame newbies for posting such topic. We can post same topic about it, and like what you said- make some twist to avoid it from looking/sounding like a repeated one.

Yes, that is true. I don't think that many Mylot members even bother to use the search option to search out discussions to get the answers they need before they make a discussion of their own. I don't like to answer the same discussion over and over again. So I just look for some new and more interesting discussion to answer for myself.

Yeah, that's true. Most of the time though the search functions fails itself. We will only discover repetitive discussions once we have tagged ours. I noticed that myself when i created a discussion... only to realize i already had the same topic about 3 years ago... and it did not come about when i searched for it. So to save time... i am guilty not to search anymore and will just post another discussion as i see fit. :D

This cannot be avoided. Even vets sometimes got their topic deleted due to this reason. Mylot is here for 6-7 years and who can tell what's repeated and what is not. Unless for simple and very common questions like love,relationship-most are repeated soooooooo many times.

I think there are many discussions started every day,new topics, sometimes we don't know that the topics we past is already there..But we can use to search here..Me, i have not search if i have same topics that posted, but i just think new ways but can't avoid,we do mistakes........but it is okay......

I have done this before. At first I tried to search it using their search engine but I found nothing. After I put tags on my discussions, that is the only time I saw that I have similar discussions. I agree with what other mylotters are saying. Sometimes the search tool doesn't works well. In my case, I don't do it for the sake of earning. I prefer to participate on discussions rather than on initiating a topic. Have a nice day!

hi a lot of newer people think if I make a discussion on how great my sons teachers were and another person made a discussion on how he feels that teachers have it too easy that these are repetitive and really they are not. he is talking about teaching being too easy while I am talking about some really good teachers my son had, really two different things engtirely, so no they are not repetitive. trust the admins they can tell what is repetitive like if I made that discussion after seeing someone else tellinghow great her daughters teachers were then yes I would be making a du plicate. nobody earns a penny by the way if they have discussions deleted so dongt worry about it. trust the admins they do know what they are doing.
