It's supposed to be my first run for 2012... but...

My boyfriend and I have been planning to register for one of the biggest annual running events here in the Philippines. We were all set to register until I saw an article earlier which says: Two weeks into the registration period, all 21K and 16K race slots have been SOLD OUT already. The organizers did not anticipate the intensity of the runners’ demand for the longer distances and are extremely grateful for the support. Oh my! That news really made me feel bad. We were even so excited about the idea that I will be running 16K and he will do the 21K. It's not like there will be no other running events in 2012 but this would have been our first run for 2012.

I didn't know that could happen. That there could only be a certain amount of slots available to run for.

ugh, the stupid site just ate my response. Often larger races will sell out quickly, I ran the Fontana Half last year and it sold out early. I was lucky and was able to snag a slot when someone dropped out - when my friend went to pick up our registration packets the day before he said they were able to get me switched. Because it sold out, I had signed up for the 5K in the hopes I could swap the day of the race. This time I know I better get registered EARLY. My suggestion would be to contact the office and ask if you can register and be put on a waiting list in case someone drops out before the race. That way you may still have an opportunity albeit last minute! Better than nothing!
