as far as I remember every dish that mom has ever made I know when it came to salty ones, like french fries and other similar dishes I had to always ask for extra salt, so I could add it, I even do it with popcorn sometimes, I do it with mashed potat too and with rice. it's just if I can't really taste the salt the dish isn't enough tasty to me, it has this bittersweet taste to me, so I can't go without extra salt in most cases. and when it comes to sugar, well I love candy, but here I'm talking about regular sugar that you put in cakes, deserts and coffee, can you go without it? for me if the coffe again isnt sweetened enough it's a bit bitter and I don't like that taste, I prefer to taste this sweet sugar when I drink coffee, though if its too much again that can make it very untasty. so how is it with you, do you always require extra salt/sugar with every dish/drink or regular amount that you usally do or get is enough for you?

For me it truly depends on what I'm eating as to what and how much I add. Though I've been trying to get better at eating less salt and less sugar as diabetes and heart problems are in our family so whatever I can do to cut that w/o sacraficing flavor I attempt to do it... though it's easier to do that during warmer months when we consume alot of fruit and veggies here.

thats good you try to keep it all in normal amounts. I read the other day when at doctors that salt got quite harming too, but what can we do right, we cant go completely without it and in the end nothing is totally healthy anyway specially when most of stuff nowadays contains so many artificial stuffs

Thats the worst thing of all we are so used to eating nothing but processed foods and we have to do our best to move away from those foods. The rise in cancer, diabetes, and heart diseases has risen because of all the ingredients that we don't need in these foods.

I love sugar, but not in my coffee. I like it in my tea though, unless it's hot. If someone makes my coffee which I don't have to be concerned about but about once every 2 or 3 years, if they automatically think I would want sugar in my cup of coffee and I didn't know they put it in there. When I taste it, it about makes me gag! Salt, on the other hand, I have hardly ever remembered to salt anything. Now that my 86 year old mom is on a sodium diet and about every other diet there is for her health, I have gotten in the habit of using little or no salt also. But I never was a big salt person anyway, so I don't miss it.

wow, you seem to have no problem then to go without either of them, thats good for you. I don't think I could do it and coffee without sugar i couldnt drink it at all, I always add extra sugar to it, so I guess it just depends on your habit. salt is same with me, if its to little I have to add some too. I know its not so good to use to much, but I try to limit it.

I like a lot of things with salt, but some things I don't even notice if there is salt in it but when it come to sugar, I love it. I try to cut back on it a bit but it is hard, sugar does make things taste good.

ur right, without sugar is hard, but I find salt equally close to it actually, one or another I couldn't choose between the two hehe
