Dressing him like a you would a Barbie Doll? ( a rant)

I just saw an ad where a woman was getting her man to try on skinny jeans and a scoop neck pink top. Why? Don't get me wrong , real men can and do wear pink but not in a his style. It made me think, why would a guy go through this. And better still why would a woman do this to a guy she says she loves?Silly me, when I see a guy I see what he is wearing and I take him as is, not a fashion project. Is it just me or are there more women out there like me? Your thoughts.

Oh gosh! You know, there are a lot of these fashionista’s (is that a word?) out there on TV… they show all these kinds of get ups for men and women… and some of them are utterly ridiculous. They even got makeup for men now.. eyeliner.. which is called guyliner… so it is the dress and the look that is turning guys into flamboyant masculine (sort of) Barbies.. I can’t even call them wannabe Ken dolls… because Ken dolls still look like guys the last I saw. I think it takes a tolerant man to put up with being made over like that, when they aren’t normally that flamboyant. I saw a guy in church one night and he had on a woman’s pull over sweater.. I even pointed it out to him… “Jamie, you are wearing a girl’s sweater” “No I’m not”… yes he was… I just shook my head.

He got all his clothes from the Clothes Closet.. it's where you can get free clothes. He was a bit off... mentally... from falling off a porch onto his head as a toddler... but even though he was/is mentally impaired he could sing like a dream. He looked funny the way he dressed, but he could sing like Elvis. I could listen to him all day. Bless his heart, he is now in a nursing home. I used to see him walking with crutches up the road.. he had bad arthritis and could hardly walk. I asked about him when I never saw him walking anymore and his former part time employer said he was in a nursing home. He used to clean her house for his job and he did other odd jobs to survive... plus he got SSI... but he had no one to help him dress... so if he liked something at the Clothes Closet he got it and wore it... so sometimes he did draw attention. One time he wore some psychedelic colors.. slime green and something else.. he almost glowed. Everyone loved him though... he could make us sit up and take notice when he sung.

I have seen that commercial also. It is a stupid ridiculous commercial. I agree, no man should have to be dressed by a woman. In that commercial, the guy looked gay. No pun intended. But it did look like she realized she made a mistake when the woman came from the other dressing room wearing the same thing.

Sorry but no gay man would wear that top! they may wear tight, skinny jeans but that top was hideous!

That was a real crapy top for anyone. Maybe thats why it was used in the commercial in the first place. LOL.

I do respect my guy's style but sometimes he chooses clothes that doesn't fit him anymore. Like when we were in college, he has some clothes with anime print on them. That's fine, since we're both anime freaks. Even now. But for a 26-year old guy to be wearing an anime print? I don't think so. Whenever I see him looking at a shirt with anime on it in the mall, I have to literally take it out of his hands. He can still wear all the grunge prints he wants. But if it were just me, I'd like a guy in plain shirt, no print at all. And no, nothing girly of course. That's crazy. Although he says that my picks are girly, like cardigans and turtlenecks. I would just roll my eyes.

I must not be a real woman! I think of dressing my guy as a waste of time and a thing he will soon resent me for. If I met a guy who wears printed shirts , then I assume he will Always wear them, period. So it is up to me to either live with it or find someone else.

Oh my, she must not be married to someone like I am. He would allow me to choose clothes for him, only, if he thought they were appropriate. It sounds like she is a control freak, but not having read the article about it, who knows what was going on? I agree with you, unless I'm asked to help or my hubby dresses like a jerk, which men sometimes do, like tennis shoes with a suit, I usually keep my mouth shut. For me, I fell for the man he is, not the one I wanted him to be. I'd say, I'm just like you, and that lady doesn't belong in our circle of friends!

Actually, it does depend on what kind of suit he is wearing......hahaha. Some of the summer suits, anything goes as long as he isn't barefoot!

No fashion projects for me either..lol. I am not one to try and dress anyone. I might buy him a shirt or pants as a gift but it is usually his style of clothes. I don't want anyone trying to dress me either..lol.

I don't think it's appropriate for any woman to involve her man in cross-dressing. If she really loves that person, it's just a sign of respect on his masculinity to let him wear clothes that are fit for a man. Maybe some couples find it fun to do, but I wouldn't ever dream of doing that to my husband.

Hi Sarah... A woman who loves her guy, would not make her guy do that... It'll kill his manliness LOL... In any case, I think ladies should not interfere in this issue, unless it is extremely necessary, n unless his cloths start losing their shine.. There are some things which should remain guy things only... :-). Good evening...

If you don't like someones style...because is doesn't match your way of thinking....don't even get involved. Acceptance is part of love....not trying to change someone....and by the way....you are right. Many men wear pink and look wonderful in it!

OMG! i think that's way to far. I gave my boyfriend a ping shirt and it's cute but to let him wear a skinny and all that a big NO! I think she's crazy for doing silly thing like that to the man she loves. I want to share this site to you guys LIFO.com. It is a fun site for girls that has a virtual closet feature which allows you to upload your own personal closet and create outfits you can share with friends. Hope you could take a peep.
