I just learned it online. Hard to believe that the sushi is regarded as the most dangerous food since they use the raw meats like salmon etc. as the main ingredients. The raw meats may contain the parasite and it is harmful for the health. I like sushi and perhaps I have to try to avoid to eating the raw stuff.

There are still seas that are not polluted. But if you want safe to eat sushi, those fishes must belong to ponds where it was farmed or cultured different breed of fishes. Why not try to visit islands from Palawan in the Philippines, they have still fresh fishes that is safe to eat raw like sushi.

Yeah, eating raw stuff is quite dangerous, but I thought (BUtete) Blwfish is the most dangerous since it has actually killed people. Maybe this will teach people to just eat raw foods at famous restaurants..

I think what they put on sushi's are flavored sticky rice pressed mostly with cooked fish meat. I have read too that sushi actually originated in China and was only introduced in Japan in the 7th century.
But, if you are in doubt and wants to enjoy sushi foods make sure you eat in a prestigious restaurant whose specialties are sushi.

I've eaten sushi for years and never had an ill effect. The Japanese eat sushi all the time, along with the fish products and you don't see them having the same health problems as we do in America. In response to the person who posted, rightly, about concerns of fish and pollution, I think that applies to all fish not just sushi. The moral of the story is be careful who you buy your fish from and where they get it from. Not just sushi, but all fish!

I would have to say it is the most dangerous food to eat. I love fish far too much to take a chance on a bad experience with any of it. Especially salmon which is one of my favorites. I couldn't stand having a bad sushi so I have never tried it. Nor will I. I like my fish far too much.

I have no idea whether it is a dangerous food or not, but i heard about it in movie "Johnny English". They say that sushi is very dangerous in taste. Though I do not know whether it is dangerous for health or not. Well if sushi is available in market, then it cant be dangerous.

I think what is important is the processing of the sushi. If it is not process properly then most likely parasites are present and alive and then it may harm our body. A friend of mine who is familiar with the preparation told me that fishes for sushi should be freeze in a freezer prior to serving and should not be served fresh from the supply. The freezing will eventually kill the bacteria and parasites.

Yes, eating raw cuts of meat like the sushi stuff could be harmful to one's health as what I've learned before as a Nursing student, in the Philippines it can be compared to "kinilaw", we still use saltfish other than salmon or tuna etc. and dip it together with ginger, onions, chili and some other stuffs.
The fact that certain bacterias, fungi and viruses can live and multiply under certain circumstances especially undercooked foods is one cast-iron reason that a person can acquire such harmful disease e.g. schistosomiasis and filariasis so better watch your back.

I am not so fond with sushi but I know that some sushi's don't have raw meat at all. Some contains veggies in place of meat. In case sushi is really dangerous (but I still doubt - I think it is really not) good for me because my system cannot really take sushi. I tried couple of times but I can't.

I like to eat sushi as well. The famous outlet selling Sushi in my place would be Sakae Sushi, Ichiban Sushi, Sushi tie etc. I won't be surprise to hear that Sushi is regarded a dangerous food. All this time I am conscious of what the raw material may contain. But I tend to take it easy and do what I wanted to do, eat.
Actually, there are a lot of food which is not really safe to consume. Steak is an example of meat which they would have 70 percent cooked etc. However, lots of people are eating and I don't really see it as a significant threat to our health. Anyway, meat is generally not good for our health. whether cooked or not.
There is actually some cases where people suffering from cancer, high blood pressure, heart problem etc, managed to recover from the diseases by stop eating meat and go for vegetables and fruits. Thus, maybe all of us should reduce meat in or daily diet.
Remember, a healthy life is more important than anything if you want to live an enjoyable life.
