We have this yearly free cleaning from our school dentist; it's a guy, kinda old.. I tried it last year and it was a nightmare, it hurt a lot... it only lasted for a little more than 10 minutes and my gums bled so much. My friend and i were thinking of doing it again next year, hoping i wouldn't be as bad.. What do you think, my otehr friend said we shouldn't since it might ruin our teeth..

Well you need to get your teeth cleaned, but if you can afford it I would go to someone who doesn't hurt me. There are topical things they can put on your gums to numb the pain. However that said it's better to bear the pain then not get your teeth cleaned, dirty teeth is much worse for them than cleaning them well.

I have tried a dentist who puts something to numb it, it takes like bubble gum and it's pink. it just hurt a little bit. But our school dentist just gets on with it, and so my gums bleed a lot..i was quite alarmed when i looked at it.

Oral and dental health is very important...you should keep it clean. You should do frequently check too dentist and consultation about teeth.

Yeah, but maybe not the school dentist. My personal dentist is a woman and she is very good- she has been my dentist ever since I was little, my first dentist. I really do not like guy dentists, they are so harsh.

Why did your gumes bleed? If you have plaque low on your teeth near the gumes it could make them bleed. A cleaning is supposed to get all that off. How long had it been since you had a cleaning previously? You're supposed to have one every six months. If not it builds up and is hard to get it off.

Why go back if you had such a terrible experience?! But if he was a student before, and may have graduated already, then maybe his methods have improved. You should ask around first if this guy still does the same thing to his patients. If he does, then you should definitely stay away.

It is free right? they don't charged you any cost except the pain?(^^) Hope the doctor do it in the correct procedure. My friends really like to use such free service when we were in school and college. She said it is 'free'- we paid it the first year we registered there, so she will use the service as much as she could.
