I Usually Stay Home on New Years Eve

United States

I mean, I ALWAYS stay home. I hate it. So, yesterday, I went ou t. I didn't go far. I went to the local firehouse with my boyfriend who is a firefighter and brought a friend. We played Texas Hold 'Em and ordered pizza and just hung out. It was tons of fun! It was a nice change from sitting watching the television with my family, which I do every year. Do you usually stay home on New Years Eve? If not, what do you do? What did you do this year?

I have social anxiety so I am home most of the time. I like to be home. In my dark dungeon of a room and writing or on Mylot. I have had alot of excitement and activity in my life and so I don't need it to be happy. I feel content where I am. Sounds like you had alot of fun. Some of those firefighters are something to behold. Hehe

Being depressed staying in my room doesn't really bother me.

I see. I'm glad you had enough fun in your life that it doesn't disappoint you to stay home. I think it would upset me a bit if I was cooped in my room all the time. I get bored easily, even on myLot. Happy New Year!

:) So do I. Because there are so many people in the streets, it make me fell not so well. And instead, I can stay with my families in our home, chatting, laughing, and eating. Oh, the latter is so nice~~~ And when the clock stroke 12 o'clock, we kissed each other.

hi stephanie. i always spend new year's eve at home and i spend it with my family. this past one was special because i was able to spend it with my family. the past six or so years was spent with my in-laws. nothing wrong with that but i've really missed spending new year's eve with my own family so i really cherished this one. my daughter and i watched the fireworks display near our place. we had the traditional new year's eve feast! my mom served chunks of ham with cheese, some bread, different kinds of pastries and my favorite which was hot chocolate! it was really a great year to end 2011 as i welcomed 2012 with my daughter and family! definitely, one of the better new year's eve celebrations i've had in awhile!

hi stephanie. yeah, i hear and understand what you mean. it was such a welcome change of environment for me and my daughter. next year, i'm planning to take my family, my parents, siblings and daughter to spend new year's eve at one of the many parties happening around the city. something with good food and a great view of the fireworks is ideal. already saving up for it. lol!

I'm glad you had a great time and finally got to switch up the routine! That's what I did as well, except I'm the opposite. I'm always with my family. And now I wasn't! It was different and wonderful! Not to say that being with my family is bad or anything!

I'm not the type of person always hanging out with friends or other people. Better for me to stay at home when no work or nothing important to buy out side

I can't remember the last time I went out for New Years. For the past five years or so, I've been on the Internet. Next year, God willing, I plan on being somewhere, hopefully with a mate. This past New Year's Eve, I was home writing a story on my computer (there's an old wives tale that whatever you are doing when the New Year comes in, is what you will be doing for the rest of the year.) So I wrote a story, watched a Lifecaster on Justin.tv show the dropping of the ball from New York, listened to a Detroit station on the Internet, and then was IMd from a relative. I'm glad you had a great time though.

Sounds like it wasn't too bad for you. I actually never heard of that old wives tale. My friend has one where she has to hold money when the money drops so she'll earn money int he New Year! Go figure, I had some money in my wallet, but I didn't hold it at the time. I hope you do get out of the house next year though! And have some fun!

When I was a teenager I was always out on New Year's Eve. Now that I'm an adult I don't have the urge to get out. I'm more leery of all the drunk drivers. But mostly I really don't know what I would be doing. Man, I'm 30 and acting like I'm sixty. No offense to sixty year olds!

I'm 20! So, no drunk driving over here! (Not like I would even if I was 21 anyway!) But I know what you mean. I usually stayed home with my family because that's how we usually celebrated. But I got so bored of it. We never did anything. Half my family fell asleep. So..yeah.

I normally stay home. Most years I don't even stay awake until Midnight. The last 2 years though I have been stuck at work ringing in the New Year. Which is fine by me. It is not like I had anything else to do anyway except sit at home.

I do usually stay home on New Year's Eve but this year I went out. It was a six hour drive so we left early so we could get there in time to get some rest and meet up with some musician friends that had invited us to their show. We actually got a little turned around and had very little time to rest. I still had a great time though. It was something different and that was what we were striving for. I'm glad you had a nice New Year's Eve. Take care.

Seems like you had a nice time as well, even though you got a bit lost on your way there! Happy New Year!

I like staying at home too. Although I always went out when I was younger, nowadays I prefer to be at home with the kids. This new years eve, we went up the mountains to do some snow games. Sledding, tubing, and toboganning. At 9pm, they had a mock countdown, which enabled everyone to get home and celebrate the real countdown at home.

That sounds like so much fun! I wish I was there! I've never gone snow tubing or anything like that! I don't like the cold much, though!

HI Stephanie Ann C: It' great to know that you have enjoyed your time with your boyfriend this last New Year Eve. In my case, I use to stay home because that's the place we usually meet with my parents and the rest of family and this is just great. I love spending my time with my family. ALVARO

I refuse to step one toe outside of my house. It is too dangerous out there on New Year's Eve. A lot of people celebrate the end of the new year by absolutely rather getting smashed and really getting behind the wheel of the car. Some years out into the snow and ice, which is even worse, but this year, it was rather clear for a change in New Year's Eve. To me this year and many years, New Year's Eve was just another day. I kicked back, relaxed, listened to some music, surfed on the Internet, read a book, and drifted right off to bed right at the normal time. To me, it was just another Saturday night, and there was even less of a reason to go out. I think I only stayed up until Midnight one year and I used heavy amounts of caffeine to do so.

Unlike you I most of the time stay away from my home, and i wish that someday i will get chance to be with my family on the eve of the new year. Thats good that you had a nice time with your boyfriend. Hope rest of the year goes magical for you in the same way.

I actually usually go out for dinner with a friend then come home and relax. Last night was the same. Out for dinner then home to watch a few movies....but I was awake at midnight as my neighbors shot off some fireworks!

Sounds fun! I didn't go out for dinner, but I did go out for a late lunch with my parents before I went to the firehouse. I got a yummy omelette! I remember when my family tried to shoot off sparklers when it hit the millennium year. The ground was too frozen!
