How often as a child did you suck thumb? I never sucked my thumb as a child that I remembered. I was a child that was stuck on th baby bottle for a good few years. My husband he stll kind of sucks his thumb it's his safety thing although he never really puts his thumb in his mouth just a tip of his finger but I noticed he only does it when he is stressing so I know to ask what is up when I see him doing that. I want to say very few months it'll happen ut not that often as it was at the being of out relationship.

I never sucked my thumb. My Mom had us off of the bottle at a year old and also potty trained. Our daughter sucked her thumb for quite a few years. I would not allow her to have her blanket out of her room, so if she wanted to use her blanket and suck her thumb she would go to her room. Otherwise she would have taken that blanket everywhere she went. We only took it along when going out of town. I think her thumb was definitely her security.

I never sucked my thumb I used my bottle till I was about 7 I didn't have my adult teeth yet so there wasn't any damage done. My huband teeth are a bit crocker from thumb sucking but he doesn't do it all day. He does it every now and th. The reason why your daughter sucked her thumb was kind of because of security it was for soothing it's a normal insticked after birth because that is what babies do to help sooth themselves so it kind of sticks with us. My daughter doest do the thumb she does pacifiers when she is trying to go to sleep she is still young so there is no need to take them from her yet.

Our daughter sucked her thumb in the hospital several days after she was born. I am thinking she was around 7 when she stopped sucking her thumb. We did nothing to stop her, she stopped when she was ready.

Thumb sucking or sucking on anything for years repeatedly can have bad affects on the teeth. Little kids are okay with sucking on things till there adult teeth start coming in.

It's okay for children to have this habit. There's a psychological explanation or theory to this but I forgot. And this also connects to adults smoking. But with your husband's case, kinda weird and it's my first time to hear that an adult still "thumb sucks". Maybe he never got over with this habit during his childhood and only becomes obvious when he is stressed or unaware of his actions just like the mannerisms.

So it's like a mannerism a lot similar to someone who bites a pencil or his nails. :) Well, as far as my memory is concerned, I outgrew of it very early 'cause when I started going to school (nursery) I was not doing it anymore. Or I guess as early as 4yrs old?haha! My brother was the one who has this issue in fact 'cause we usually tease him. And only stopped until 13 yrs old.

I was never a thumb sucker loved my bottle a lot as a kid. I had a bottle till I was 7 but I would it at home when I went to school but as soon as I got home. Oral fixations they live with you for a while even after you give them up. Substituting for a good thing is hard to find. That might be why I snake a lot.

He doesn't really suck his thumb it's more like he puts the tip of his thumb in his mouth like he is thinking and he only does it every now and then. His dad did cheat on his mom when he was kid so that is why he does it. It soothes him every now and then. But the question was at yourself how long as a child did you suck your thumb?

Well, it is interesting that babies like sucking their fingers. I think maybe it is because they are teething, and sucking their fingers let them feel better. There are some adults that also sucking their thumbs. To tell the truth, my husband often put his nail into his mouth. And i really don't know why, he says there is a lack of some special vitamine in his body. I don't know for sure.

Teething for Babies don't start till they are 4 or 5 months old but sucking of things for babies even adults start before birth it's in the womb it helps sooth them when up set the same as when your an adult chewing or eating it's a soothing. Iron and some other viteams can cause people to eat certain things. Nail bitting is normally a cause of nervousness or stress but it can be because your missing something that your body needs.

My son also suck his thumb, and until now that he is in 3rd grade, he cannot resist not to suck his thumb when he is sleepy or even watching tv. I think you are right, it is their security thingy. Others have some ways of getting security like their baby blankets, stuff toys, etc. But if that will make them secure, then, let it be.

Well one I wasn't talking about a baby but my husband and it's not a security I didn't say security I said coping another word for soothing. That's why babies suck on things when they are upset. Your son will grow out of it. Bit the question was pointed to yourself not your child. How much did you suck your thumb as a child? I don't think my huband needs a blanket or a toy.

I've never sucked my thumb when I was younger. I think that I may have tried it because all the other little kids were doing it in school. I know its kind of dumb I know. But I wanted to look cute. But I never stuck to the habit and thought it was silly anyway.

I never sucked my thumb I was attached to my baby bottle for like 9 years it took a lot of will power to kick that habit to the curb. My huband sucks his still but not like some people do. He likes to put the tip on his thump on top of his front teeth but when I see him doing it in his sleep I wake him up. He only does when sleeping very now and then.

Hello, My mom told me that i sucked my thumb when i was a little baby until i am 7 y/o. I dont remember it at all because i am old now. Haha i am now 20. So, i asked my mom how did i stopPed? She just said that i just always tell you to stop. So thats it maybe you can also do that to your husband since it is not good at all. You give him advice to that because i know he will understand since he is already old.

I said above he doesn't do all of the time and when he does it's normally in his sleep kind of like h is thinking not really sucking on it. I'm not going to be getting up when I'm trying to sleep a few hours before my 11 month old daughter wakes up for a feeding to tell my 22 year old husband not suck put his thumb in this mouth. I drank from my baby bottle till I was about 7. It's something he has to do on his own.
