I was looking through the guidelines on writing posts. I saw that it said that posts have to be at least 3 or 4 sentences long. What I am wondering is there a limit as to how long post on mylot can be. I mean is there like a 300 or a 500 word limit on posts. Or is there not any limit as to how long posts can be. This is something that I would like to know. I would hate to either not get my posts published or get deleted because they are too long. If there is anyone out there in the world of mylot that can help me out with figuring this out then please let me know. Any and all help is appreciative. Thanks in advanced and happy mylotting.

I am not sure where you saw that a "post" (I am not entirely sure what that is, but I am assuming you mean a discussion, comment and/or response) has to be at least three or four sentences long, because that is not true. They need to be as long or as short as they need to be to convey your message properly. As for a maximum length, the official answer is "yes" there is a maximum. However, the limit is so high that almost nobody ever reaches it, although I have run into one or two extremely long-winded friends that have actually reached it! Most members will say that there is no limit, because they have never reached it. However, if you do, then whatever you are trying to post be it a discussion, response or comment will not post and as far as I understand it you will get an error message similar to the ones you get when you try to use too many emoticons or you use a word that is not deemed "appropriate" for this site.

Its a reasonable question. I think it might matter to the people reading it. If you write something interesting people might appreciate lots of information on a subject. You may not get a large audience though.

I thought I wrote too many long post. I wrote sometime more than 10 sentences. This good about this site, we can write as long as we can and people who are not excellence with English very welcome and well-respected. I saw some user who are new to this site found out that this site would be the most respected social and pay site I ever joined. This was the ideal place for me to express my thought and feeling as well. I was hoped that this site would exist hundreds years up to many generation.

Hello nerein, Here on MYLOT we are expected to write quality reponses/comments and quality can be judged when it is more decsriptive as they suggest us also to write responses/comments to be more elaborative but they don't say that we have to write 200-300 words on a response. Our responses/comments are deleted only when we violate guidelines or discussion under they are violate guidelines and there is no other reason for which our response/comment is deleted.

I don't think that line has a limit because it depends on quality not the quantity. I think it doesn't matter if its long or short as long we produce quality comments that based on the topics.

I agree with all these people comments, Ask the admin, if there is any limit. or maybe try it yourself. There might be some error message that will tell you that your post is too long or something. maybe It's ok to post long comments or discussion as long as it has sense, it gives enough information and people would like it . I've seen long posts too. I've also read them, and they're interesting maybe that's why they're not deleted. Mylot deleted my post, because they said it was a poll or something, poll questions are not allowed here so they got deleted. happy lotting

I have honestly not seen a post deleted because it was too long. I have, i believe seen other members post a very long discussion(them describing an event that happened to them) and they are quite a few paragraphs more than we can handle but they are still here in the site, and i think it was not deleted. :D Only worry about the readers or the mylotters who might not take interest in reading such a long post if you do intend to post one that is. see you around!

From my understanding, this mylot is emphasizing on the quality and not the quantity of the posts. As long as the we have some good posts to share, I am such those posts will not be deleted. When I just started at this mylot, few of my posts were deleted. It was very frustrated. Anyhow, I learned from my mistakes for not repeating the same again. About the length of a post, there is no specification in the FAQ column. Just keep in mind to post something with good quality, then your posts are safe from deletion.

I don't believe that there is any limit in posting here in mylot. I do think that it is actually encourage for posters to post long posts on discussions. Posts are deleted when the question posted above it gets deleted. I think they delete questions that are repeated or something similar to that.

Given my experience here on Mylot as veteran (over 1 year), I do not think there is a limit on the length of a discussion. I still do not a user who prefers long threads. Mine are usually brief, but concise. Important for me to express myself better and make the reader understand the concept clearly.

If you have something interesting and long that you would like to write, I do not think there is any limit of words here in Mylot. I have seen some pretty long posts before which would be going to that word number of word count.

I don't think there is a line limit, but who will ever write a post of 500 lines. But if it doesn't stand in the FAQs there is no limit. You can also ask a admin for any answers. Or wait for other people who know the answer. Concrete.
