Anyone knows why Koreans fake their tears? There is no way they got so sad for such a leader. They must have a hard life.

I think the nation was force to do that. This man kept people in hunger and poverty. He did not care for them at all. The main thing is power and greed. This is not leadership. Let's hope that one day all such people will fall. All the best!

Yeah, I agree. I think some people did cry real tears, because they are taught that the dictator is basically God. However, there is hope that things will change. His son has little dictator training and actually had schooling in Scandinavia. Additionally, North Koreans are now well aware that North Korea is not an oasis as they were once told due to the advent of things like the Internet and DVDs.

Maybe his studys will help him keep on open mind and do some good. But will his father's advisors let him? Bad influence is always a problem.

it probably was fake, but then again sometimes bullies are very good at making those who they bully feel dependent on them, by making those they bully feel that they could not cope without them. maybe the whole country suffers from dependent personality disorder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dependent_personality_disorder

a country is made up of millions of individual people, after all religious cults manage to engage in a form of group collective madness. and i sometimes feel where i live, the uk, we share some sort of collective personality disorder. but i suspect it has more to do with people faking it than collective madness, i was just offering an alternative viewpoint.

Dependent personality disorder applies to one person, not a country.

my husband was saying the same thing but who really knows why people do the things they do. there must be some reason, you never know, they really might respect the leader too. i think most of them were from the military area and as we all know, the leader did spend money on the military. but there might be other reasons too. but there really were some who really suffered so much, even the children, it was so sad. hopefully, now it'll get better.

Well, maybe they were happy tears. But I hear what you're saying. Most dictators are not very nice people to begin with.

Hello, I dont heard about that before but if it is true it is really still amzing how they pretend to have a tears in there eyes. Maybe it is all part o there role? The director did not push them through to cry and if then it is easy to be an artist in korea because you dont have to make a hard time thinking of sad moments in your life,. Right?

Either the tears are fake as most of us believe.or the poor people are so brainwashed that they think that they would be lost without their"beloved leader".Or may be they feel that the new"Emperor", the spoiled brat(that how he looks to me),will be an even crueler and more despotic leader..... May be they do not know that something better exists.

Yes, I heard about this one on the news. Apparently, dissadents from North Korea now in South Korea say the people in the north are really bunging it on thick & fast. They have to, as others have said. The whole of North Korea is riddled with spies, apparently & if you're not even crying hard enough or sincerely enough, you can be arrested. It must have been hard crying for three weeks like that... especially for someone who let all those tens of thousands of his own people die because of "the military priority", while relying on US aid & threatening them with nuclear weapons... how does that work?

I guess with some North Koreans did fake their tears becuase of the threat to their lives. I'll give that some die-hard Kim followers genuinely sad and cried becuase of their beliefs. But I think for the majority are doing it so that the government will not punish them becuase it is perceived that all North Koreans love the Kim regime and the party of the country. It is true that their lives literally dependent on it since the governemnt made the people dependent on them. If the government don't give them anything, they might starve, be punished or die. crocodile tears are easier to do comapred to these consequences if they didn't obey.

yeah! I also observe that in some Korean drama series on TV, they cry but it lacks feelings and emotion! Maybe because they are more conscious on their facial make ups and fashions, or their good video outlook! I guess they must have to work on this because, great artists that I know puts their heart and soul in their crafts and masterpieces.
