My Fall Semester

Well, I am signed up for all my classes this semester, and overall I am happy with my choices. The classes I am taking are Intermediate Algebra (yuk! math!), Substantive Criminal Law, Chemsitry and Society + a corresponding lab class, and Interpersonal Communication (esk!) I am a very quiet person, and a communications class is pretty much my worst nightmare! lol. I do not like having to get up and talk in front of people. But I think I chose the least torturous communications class, and the teacher I picked is suppose to be a really fun, nice guy so lets hope that helps! The Substatntive Law Class is just as an elective, no real purpose for it in my degree. But the teacher is really fun and cool (had another class with him) so I'm sure I'll enjoy this class as much as I enjoyed the last. I don't love science (but it's not as bad as math), and the teacher I got (the only one who was available for my schedule needs) isn't suppose to be all that great so I'll just see how it goes. But the teacher who teaches the Lab is suppose to be really good, so that helps! Algebra....UGH! My least favorite subject, and the teacher is suppose to be not good! I have read such comments about her: "not helpful at all..." "does not like when she has to spend time helping you" "never grades anything until the end of the semester so you never know how you're doing" "unfair in grading" I'm really nervous because I'll probably need help in my math class! I may chicken out and find another teacher if I can, if anything has opened up!

Maths All I remember from my maths teacher is he used to wear odd socks, one day a pinkish one and a black one! says it all really lol. The guy was like Mr Bean. Substitute the Algebra class for a fluff one if you still can such as media studies lol. It will be more fun. The rest of the choices seem just fine. Don't worry about the communication one, you will be grand Wishing you the best of luck

I can't substitute the algebra one, I have to take it for my degree. I'm taking a math class this semester, a math class during the summer, and then one during my last semester. That's the only way I can take the required math class. Mr. Bean!? haha!! Was he at least nice? After I made this discussion I did drop the math class with the bad teacher and sign up for one with a teacher who is suppose to be nicer! lol. After rereading all the bad comments about the first teacher I was just realized I need a teacher who is helpful and nicer in math, considering it's my least favorite subject and one I haven't done in over 6 years! lol

Ahh I see, I was not sure and once again good luck He was cool, he was a laugh but taught me nothing. Just make sure you have the right choice of maths teacher! A fun one can be good but you will end up not understanding maths, either that or I was very unlucky but lucky enough I don't need math on my day to day basis. I loved science and is still a passion of mine but the lack of math held me back I am so thankful for calculates and computers

Ugh, I can't get past beginner algebra, but I will have to in order to get me degree..:( As for the communications class, did you check to see if any were offered online? Because ironically I am taking a communications class online this quarter, don't know how it works, but since I can't go to campus, it was the only one I could take..Which is good in a way, because I also hate talking in front of people, but there might be a drawback, like calling up someone to communicate something or another..I'll let you know when I find out..

Well there is 1 communications class offered as an online course, but I am really bad at online classes. The first (and only) C I got in a class was an online class, and it was a very easy subject (College Success Course!! hahaha, ironic.). So I am not going to take anymore online classes. I do okay in math (in Highschool I got an A in Algebra 5-6) but I haven't done math in 6-7 years, so that's probably why I didn't test into an even higher math class! lol

Oh I hate group projects! lol Because, like you, I always found myself doing all the work. Why do we get stuck with the lazy group??? I got straight A's last semester! And I almost got straight A's my first semester, except for that C in College Success! lol. Funny that's the class that brings me down! But I wasn't distracted by anyone, I just suck at online classes! lol Congrats on your As and Bs!

SSC? I have a friend who was distracted by a girl and failed that class...lol I took that class my first year, I loved it, except when we had to do a group project and at the beginning I was the only one doing it.. But before it was due, a couple others joined, so I just sat back, (since I already did a lot of work) and let them finish it.. Yes, one must be self-motivated to take online classes and I must be one, because other than the beginner algebra class, I get all A's and B's.

My friends won't really be able to help me with a bad teacher (but thankfully I don't have to worry about that now). But my sister is good at math, so she'll porbably be able to help me if I need it.

This reminds me of my second semester in university. I was taking up engineering, and as I've already done the basics, I was scheduled to take the tougher subjects that sem. I took higher math (algebra), chemistry (with lab hours), and physics (also with lab hours). As an easy subject to balance out the 3 hard ones, I took the communications (speech!). I am also a quiet person so I ended up hating the speech class than the other 3. I spent half of my study time preparing for speeches instead of brushing up in math, chem or physics.

Hopefully that doesn't happen with me and my communications class! I'm going to need a lot of time to work on my other 3 classes. The teacher for my communcations is suppose to be really cool, nice, and fun...so hopefully he doesn't pile the work on us!

Indeed, a good teacher makes much sense. My teacher of Natural Dialectics is funny and cool, which makes me love the class and be all ears in class while formerly philosophy is boring and meaningless to me. And for overcoming my inferiority complex, I force myself to choose some communication classes, so I will have more impulse to speak in public. Friend, believe in yourself, you can do anything that others can do. So if you choose, do it!

I know how important it is to get speaking skills. I want to start my own nonprofit animal rescue, and for that I'm going to need those skills if I want to run events and get donations. The communications class I'm taking is actually more of a personal communication class, focuses on "starting and maintaining relationships" which I think is perfect for my purpose! Thank you Xiao
