Would You Go a Movie By Yourself?

A couple of times since all of my kids started going to school full time I have gone to the movies by myself. At first I thought it would be odd, but I found it to be quite nice. It was very relaxing although I as more aware of people around me then I am when I go with other people. Would you ever go to a movie by yourself? Have you? Sometimes it is nice to just treat yourself.

Yes, I've gone to the movies by myself before. I only did it once though (I hate spending money on myself ). It was a few years ago back in 2008. I just had to get out of the house (I was going insane LOL), but had nowhere to go. As my husband goes to the movies way more often than I do I figured what the hell, I'll go to the movies! So that is exactly where I went. The only problem was when I got there I had no idea what I was going to see. I quickly realized that I wasn't interested in seeing any of the PG movies that they had playing. Nor did I want to see anything scary. So I chose something in the middle (rated PG-13) called The Secret Life of Bees. I didn't want to see it just from the title alone as I thought it was a documentary. But it was my only option left... So I went in to see it. I'm so glad I did! It turned out to be nothing of the sort. It was a wonderful movie! Best of all I was able to watch it uninterrupted. Something that is hard to do when you have kids with you or someone that is a chatterbox. LOL I might go by myself again one day, but for now I'll just stick with getting the movies on DVD's or Blu-Rays. Happy mylotting!

Oh, yes, ladym33, I would go to the movies alone in a heartbeat. I have done it and will do it again. I find it most entertaining to see movies by myself...love it! I also like going with family or friends but going alone is quiet and relaxing. I give it a thumbs up. LOL!

I would like to go to a movie alone. Everyone needs some "me" time. It sounds relaxing. Maybe one day I will be able to try this experience. =)

Of course I would! I have, many times. I'd even go on vacation on my own, if I wanted to go somewhere hubby didn't. That's why I'm going to NYC on my own for 3 days next month. Hubby wants to go to a sci-Fi convention in March. I don't, but I love Toronto, so I'm going to go along for the trip, and do my own thing. We're together most of the time, so if we want to do separate things now and then, big deal!

Absolutely! I love going to the movies by myself. It is so peaceful and relaxing. I actually do it quite often. I love going to see sappy chick flicks by myself. I usually cry in those movies and I like not having to explain why I'm crying. I love going to movies with other people too, but sometimes it's nice just to get out by myself and not have to worry about anything for a couple hours.

I have a couple of times in the past. Of course, even if you go by yourself, a movie is rarely a solitary experience when you go in a theater for rather obvious reasons. Granted, its been a while since I have been to a movie for any reason. I just prefer to wait for the DVD, as the drive and the traffic to the closest theater is rather just murder. Then again, there are times where you want to see a movie and it turns out everyone else has plans or no one else is interested or whatever. Or sometimes, it is just a mostly snap decision to go. Whatever the case might be, I tend to head to the theaters solo a handful of times. It is not really that much different, as if it is a good movie, I'm going to be engrossed it regardless, not caring who is there with me or not with me.

Yes I would love to go to a movie all by myself. It is a nice reward after all the hardships and all the things are done. It is time to relax. But I don't think I will be able to have that happen. I am sure my boyfriend will suspect me. I shall go to movie with him instead of being alone.

Dear Ladym33: Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia. Yes, I ever went to watch movie alone. I still remember. I went to watch KungFu Panda. And you know what I did? I slept over from the first time the movie played. I missed half the first movie to sleep :-D When I awaked, the movie was better than the beginning. Then I watched the rest of the movie. But, I think I do not like to go alone. Because I like to discuss the movie while the movie is playing.

I share your feelings, I found it odd but once inside the cinema hall, I was really amazed how relaxed and calm I am. I enjoyed the feeling, just me alone, I now a days when I really feel down and out I go to a cinema hall and come back refreshed.

There was just this one experience where I had to go to a movie alone.. I had gone to this supposed horror movie, boogeyman with my bro but because he was under 18 they did not allow him to enter... I dint want to waste my ticket and went in to watch it alone.. I felt really lonely without anyone to talk , felt awkward sitting there alone and the movie was sooo bad I came off halfway in.. So never have gone alone after that.. Cheers

There was a phase in my life when I regularly went to watch movies all by myself. Never felt odd about it. I didn't really care what other people in the theater thought about it. In fact, I doubted even if they noticed that I am alone.

I would never go alone for a movie rather i would sit alone have some pop corns and watch a good movie on my com or TV. Well it differs according to my preference i think that going alone for a movie is quite boring because you dont have someone to share the movie reviews and to me i find it quite weird to go alone. I had a friend, who likes to go for movies alone. He is a different type of guy and has a different perceptive. When it goes for a movie he just emjoys the experience of movie, not like me to have fun around the people and watch movie. There is a difference between watching movies in theater some go to have fun and watch movie while some go just to watch the movie.

I don't think I have ever been to the movies all by myself, how scary would that be! Usually when I go out, I always go with family or mainly a group of friends from school. My friends tend to plan an outing which involves going to the movies and we go together. But the let down with going with a group is that there may be a conflict between what movie to watch. Before, me and my friends sat in front of the counter for 40 minutes trying to figure out what to watch. So I guess you don't have that burden when you're alone, you can watch whatever you like without your friends complaining. But I wouldn't go alone because it's kinda lonely and I prefer friends to talk to. I feel kinda insecure seeing others with their partners or friends and me being all alone. But it all depends on preference. It's up to you if you if you like the peace and quiet.
