can we copy folder in remote when it's connected to FTP?

Say I am connected with one ftp server.. ftp:slash/myserver now I want to copy my files from folder1 to folder2.. is there any command for that? or I have to download it to local machine and upload back to server is the only option?

No, it's not the only option. It depends on what FTP client you are using. In most, you can simply drag and drop a file from one folder to another because the client works exactly like Windows Explorer.

The default action for Windows (and most other file management systems) when dragging and dropping (with the left mouse button) is to: - Move files when the target and destination are on the same drive - Copy files when the target and destination are on different drives If the application supports dragging and dropping with the RIGHT button (as most will), then this will open a menu when you drop the file(s) which will allow you to select Copy or Move.

It might depend on your FTP software, but I can't copy to a different folder without downloading first using CoffeeCup FTP software. I can't think of any instance where I'd want to have two copies of a file online, but that's no reason you might not want to.

it's wanted in case when I need to make 2-3 subdomain.. with the wordpress.. I have to upload individually.. I mean for 3 subdomains I need to upload 3 wordpress setup on the server.. it doesn't work with just reference..
