At age 20 on my way around the world I was able to visit Hawaii and Fiji. I was 29 years on my way to and from New Zealand. I stopped off at French Polynesia and the Cook Islands then Samoa. Wow! I know of other Pacific Island destinations but I haven't had enough money to go to them. I afforded stopovers on long haul trip down under you see. If you had a free trip to a Pacific Island which would you chose and why? Which sort of accommodation would you stay in?

I would immediately say that it would be some exotic island like French Polynesia, Cook Islands, American Samoa, Fiji, even Indonesia. But from all of the feedback that I have heard New Zealand is the best bang for the buck and I would probably even want to head to there before visiting Australia. I too have been around the world... except for the South Pacific and I can't wait to go and experience the different cultures that are alive and present there. Thanks Zelo

From what I am told visiting Auckland and then visiting a southern city like Christchurch or Wellington gives two completely different experiences which just sounds awe-inspiring. I can't wait to go! Thanks Zelo

Hi Zelo. I am delighted that you have traveled around the world. There are so many places a person can't go everywhere on his or her first trip of that type. I hope that you get to visit Indonesia, Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Fiji or American Samoa. Yes, New Zealand is such a stunningly beautiful country. I like a summer there very much indeed. One of the Pacific Islands combines excellently with Auckland in New Zealand.

Hi Maxine, It seems that if health helps me, I will go this year to Easter Island. If I go, I probably will stay at a rapanui´s house. My closest friend sort of adopted a rapanui boy at the time of Pinochet and he studied in the continental Chile and lived with my friends. Now he talks of them as his "conti" parents. I know him and he invited me to his home when he learned that I wanted to visit the island. Now I am studying the history of the place. As usual, there are two versions: çthe native version and the white man´s. From what I have read, I tend to believe more the rapanui version. I´m sure that Johann´s home will be a lot cosier for me than a hotel.

I have a couple of awesome books about the island, with photos, maps and all you need. I will show them to you when you arrive. I am sure that it is the kind of books that you love to browse.

hi maximax8 at my age I would need a lot of money but wou ld love to be able to see all the pacific Islands, will never happen but I c an armchair travel for sure. I would giv e anything just to see New Zealand myself. I had a woman friend from Samoa who always chatted about how I would love Samoa if I ever got the chance to travel.I told her if I ever came into some money I would love to go there if people were all as nice and friendly as she was.We traveled the same bus to the University of Ca in Irvine Ca and she worked for a professor whom I had classes with she was his housekeeper I guess. She kept telling me how wonderful I was to go back to get my degree at 43 and did wonders to my morale.

I have always had a strong desire to go to Australia, but, I always find the same old problems for a long trip like this, not enough time, or, not enough money, and, sometimes, when I read you speaking of your favourite city, Sidney, I feel a little envious, I must say. All the other island, surely are excelent destinations, Maybe, I would Polynesia, I don´t know, it sounds more exotic for me.

Hi maxim, I proud for you. Because I have a friend like you who traveled around the world. There is no chance of getting free trip. So I have no choice. I prefer to visit any new place.

If i got a chance i would visit Fiji islands.I saw Tom Hank's movie castaway and thought the islands were beautiful.Later i came to know a little more through the channel travel and living. The islands of Fiji are untouched and pristine.I would love to go there with my wife and family when finances permit. My timeshare offered a trip to Fiji at concessional rates,if i get a similar scheme in future,i will definitely opt to visit Fiji islands.
