Numbness and Electric pulses in my hands...

Did you ever felt this? I am quite worried as to why I have been feeling such tingling current/pulses in my hands and fingers since morning from 7AM. It’s going to be almost 3PM here but those strange feelings in my hands are still there and continuously giving me a discomfort. I didn’t spent a lot of time in the computer yesterday, so I am sure it wasn’t because of this. I wonder what could this be, and what to do with it.

Hello enelym, I hope it is nothing serious, I think that it may because of an old blow or injury in your arm, I feel something similar in my right thumb from time to time, and it is because, I had a strong hit in my elbow, some years back, while biking, this, according to the physician. Maybe it is the same with you, either way, I suggest you to go to the doctor, if this discomfort continues.

Maybe is because you are tired, or the arm suffered a wrong torsion during night and you didn´t notice, either way, I hope this is nothing serious, and you will be ok tomorrow.

Maybe you are also right. I really hope nothing is serious, I kinda got scared when I read about peripheral neuropathy which Gracee had mentioned. Hope it's not.

Hi Albto, Yes I will try to see a doctor if it still continues til tomorrow. I am thinking a lot about how I got this. I don't remember any hit in my elbow before. So I am sure it is not because of that. I hope so by tomorrow it'll be gone.

Hi Enelym, Maybe you did put your hand in the cold and after in a hot water. Or you did iron your clothes and right after you wash clothes or wash the dishes. This could be the possibility why you are feeling like that. If that's the case, better put your hand in a warm water...soak it up...it will fade away. Or, don't do anything with it for a couple of hours (especially typing) so that the numbness won't feel even worst. We need to take care of our hands since it's really important to do one's task like earning online, doing our regular job, doing the household and many others. You should definitely take care of yourself. Have a nice day!

Hi Joanna, Yes it's true, we have to really take care of our hands since it serves us many good purpose. It will be hard if we lose our hand's strength. I remember the day after I felt this weird numbness and electric-like pulses, that I used the laptop for a few hours only and leaving it on only. Then I took bath right after typing some lines at myLot. It was just a few lines since I was not active here that day, even my earnings on that day can tell lol! Maybe it was one of the reasons too aside from bad posture sometimes. Thankfully the feeling is gone when I woke up this morning. But I still feel my hands are a little tired. I think I need to do more exercise. Thanks for your advise.

Hi Enelym, Glad to hear that your hand is great now. I hope it will be fully recovered soon. We actually need our hands most especially with working online. We need to type fast in order to finish fast....^^ I'm glad that I am of little help to you. Have a great day!

Hi cher, Thankfully my arms aren;t swollen and when I woke up this morning it was gone. Though I feel my hands are a bit tried and my back are having some twitching sound when I move and feeling a very very little pain. I think you are right there is something that's cutting off the circulation so I felt it. I think it's connected with my back too... Thanks for your concern, I will try to visit my doctor when this happens again to make sure it is something to be worried about.

I dont think its a disease rather the reason may be coldness. You may use room heater or heat your hands for a long time. all the best.

So sorry to hear that my friend... if it's something serious and often happens to you I would suggest you seek your doctor's opinion about it. Yes that's what I will try to do - more exercise so that my blood circulation becomes normal. Thank you for your response.

Hi en,almost missed your topic... I would like to share my experience with you.Hope this helps.. I always felt that "tingling" at the upper part of my left back,i consulted a doctor because it really bothered me.It doesn't hurt but i can feel it almost everyday. The doctor recommend me to a therapist. He said its a cold stuck in my body and no medicine but therapy can cure.It is a cold we got from everyday bathing, washing, dish washing and etc.. Now,whenever i am feel the same i go to the therapist right away for a traditional whole body massage.. Makes me relax as well..

Yeah I might avoid salty foods.. I guess I ate a lot of junk foods yesterday since I spent the time yesterday snacking and drinking with my friends. My friends keep encouraging me to spend an hour going to spa but I always tell them I am not coming. I hate to see the therapists getting annoyed of me - I might laugh so much while I was being massaged.

Hi tamirs Aw sorry for that but good think you were able to have a body massage to relieve such pain. As for me, I felt such pain on my right back. I haven't tried going to a therapist as I really don't want a real massage as I might not be comfortable feeling ticklish and all. Now with the hands and fingers, this is the first time I have felt it and it was weird coz it was here for the whole day. I am trying to exercise it and my friend tried to massage both my hands too. Hopefully it won't be here tomorrow.

It may be a circulation thing, a trapped nerve, the position you're sitting or standing in, etc. I used to get that in my legs a LOT when my back problems were bad because of pressure on the nerves in my spine. If it stays around for more than a few hours you should probably see a doctor about it, just to make sure it's nothing serious. Chances are it's just a lack of movement, a bad day, a result of sitting at the PC for too long... that kind of thing. But get it checked, anyway. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah I think it was when I was lying on my stomach using the laptop sometimes. It may have not hit me before and felt it only today. I might try to check until tomorrow if this stays around then I will surely try to have it checked. For now, I might put some ointments and have it massaged a little. Thanks SpikeTheLobster!

Might be something related to compressed nerve from around your back or shoulder. It could affect your hand and give it a feeling of numbness and tinglings.

Hi enelym001! I hope you are doing okay now. I know you must be suffering the whole day because of that numbness and electric pulses you felt in your hands. That must be something in relation to the nerves in your hands. Try to consult it to the doctor if you are still feeling it now. It must be taken care seriously. Hands is very important and very useful in our everyday life. Take care always.

Yes I do. Started with me about 8 years ago. First kind of RSI, next the fingers, hands, overreaction in arms, followed by ankles, feet/toes. I lost part of feelings in my legs (spots). If I am tired I just fall through my legs. There is something wrong with my nerves but nobody knows what. Had all kind of doctors/specialist and tests. There was a time I could hardly walk or get out of my bed (took me over 1 hour not able to turn around myself). The advice was to move out since I was not able to walk stairs anymore. I did not. I can walk better now, but daily pain and used by now that I can't do what is normal to others. BTW as long as I am not tired nobody will notice.

Sorry to hear about that Kitty, hope you will be okay and that you won't feel so much pain. My dad has a problem similar to that as well. But it was actually his feet and legs that has been affected. Sometimes he can't walk normal too especially if it is swelling too much. For me it was on back and then hands. Hopefully not to feel any other strain on some parts of my body.

You better see a doctor to check whats makes your hand be like that, I have a blogger friend that she constantly take medicine for her hands she is injecting something on her hands to stop the ache, I also remember her when the farmville was so popular back then she always felt the hurt by playing that game,

Yeah back then I was so addictive with farmville to. Planting and plowing makes my hands in pain. Good thing I discovered myLot. The pain I had before is gone - now I felt a different thing on it. I hope it is only due to the drink we had last night and having an hour sleep only. I will know the next day whether this weird feeling is gonna be there still.

this will be a problems with neuro disorder in your hands neuron. but i tell you how much superstitious we are we become if kind of effect we seen our seen. we people in indian society think that this numbness in hand is a auspicious symptom for something good going to happen. it depends in which hand its occuring. 1. if its right then it is auspicious. 2. if its in left then we are in anyway going to loose some money.

Nice to know about the superstitions you have, so now I know why suny said that too. For me it is both hands feeling such numbness and as if having a live current running in my hands and fingers. So that means both 1 & 2.

Hi EN... This is truly an unique experience. I think you should see your family doctor as soon as possible... I have never had any such experience and I don't think that using computer can be the cause... I use computer for 12 hours a day.. But I have never had any trouble... Please check with the doc... Take care...

Hi mr_pearl, Yeah I am using the computer for long hours everyday.. though lately I was not spending a lot of time. I am not sure whether it was because of my bad position lying down on my stomach sometimes... or it was because I was just so tired since yesterday and have got an hour of sleep only. Thanks for the response.

I think it has something to do with the Nervous sys thing, as an erstwhile Nursing stude I think that it could possibly has to do with your intake of Vitamin B complex, how frequent or conscious you are taking this, maybe it's because of your deficiency of such Vitamin and I greatly deem that this is one of the main culprits of your discomfort. ..Hope you'll be ok. Have a nice day!

Hi asiacevillar, I am not taking Vitamin B complex, so if this is the reason maybe I need to consult a doctor so as I would know if I should take this vitamin or not. But so far, the numbness and weird feeling on both my hands are gone.

But what scared me this time is when the feeling of electric pulses is so strong and that it was there since morning til evening. Only when I woke up this morning I realized it's gone. I am so happy it's gone and hope that it won't come back ever again.
