Way to go Ovie!

Yes I said it! After being suspended for a charge for 3 games . A move where the guy he hit Was Not hurt, Ovie announced that he will not be at the All Star Game.Yes to many this seems selfish. But to me I love the move.He plays his game and if the NHL sees his play as dirty enough to suspend him , why would they even Want him at the All Star game. And unlike other stars in other leagues where both player and league need each other equally ,The NHL Need Ovie More than he needs them. He can just pack up and go back and play for any Russian team! So I love this! I must confess I do like the Payback side of it. And I also do understand Why the Charge was called but 3 games was too much. 1 game would have been perfect. Now the question is. Will you see The All Star game? Were you waiting to see Ovie? Me? I just remembered the All Star game is this weekend. I will be watching the X Games instead.

The ultimate payback against Ovie will be the NHL not allowing its players to participate in the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Then, what will Ovie do? Re the all-star game - one word - Boring! Saw the first period, then went for a drive.

Ovie will do what I think he is thinking of doing , just go and play for Russia. Russia isn't the prison with no money to be made anymore! In fact Ovie may make the same amount as he does now. When the suits threatened a ban, Ovie said he would be going. If the suits Really don't want him to =Ever play again, They can be This stupid!

I also thought that 3 games was too much, but I heard that Sherrif Shanni took into consideration his previous suspension, so OK. As long as the sherrif is consistent with all the penalties that he is giving, I'll give him that. Anyway, back to your point. I don't think I'll watch the All-Star game. I may tune in for the highlights, but I'm pretty sure that the game will be boring.

I must confess, I love Shanny.I lusted after him way back in 1197. He is my all time favorite player and I respect how fair he is . As a repeat offender , I do see why it is 3 games.I won't see the game but.. I will see the skills competition. I love the Hardest shot and the accuracy shots too.

Ovie's overrated. Yes, I said it! Just a couple years ago it was between him and Crosby as to who the best player in the NHL was. Then Crosby won a gold medal at the Olympics and then a Cup and that debate was settled. Now Crosby has all those concussion issues and who knows if he'll ever play again so Ovie should be taking over as the game's best player. Instead guys like Stamkos, Toews and Malkin have all passed him. He needs to focus less on big hits and more on being the best player in the NHL or else he'll end up never winning a Cup and he'll become one of the biggest wastes of talent the game has seen. But that's just my opinion.

That's the whole point. If you are waiting for Ovie to be Only a finesse player , you will waiting a very long time! He has Always been a player first and a scorer second. That is why he would celebrate others scores and have so many assists! He is a grinder that can score. Not a scorer who is playing tough for now. Call him over rated. That's ok. See him as only a scorer and you can't see the real Ovie!

I thought in hockey that they were pretty rough anyway. I have seen some pretty nasty stuff and the people just got thrown in the timeout box for a few minutes. 3 games does seem extreme for the sport and especially of there wasn't someone hurt. I am not much of a hockey watcher so I probably won't be watching it either.

Hockey is a tough game but they are trying to keep players safer. Ovie launched himself, his feet left the ice. It was a penalty but 3 game suspension was a little Too hard. I'm sorry you won't be watching hockey.I love it. you have the toughness of Football but at twice the speed and the grace of ice skating.

You have just made my day. I'm glad to hear about anyone who wants to try my beloved sport. Hockey is a tough game but this year they are trying to keep the players safer. If you go to You Tube and type in Ovechkin suspended 3 games 1/23/12 you will see my beloved Shanahan, now the suit in charge of dolling out the suspensions, will explain What Ovie did and Why he was suspended. If you like Football, the term " Blow to the head" will sound familiar.Gee I hope you can see some highlights of games on You Tube or at NHL.com and you like what you see. The season is half over . In the Spring The Playoffs will start!
