I have seen many discussions here at mylot and also read some articles on internet.. also seen some softwares which blame that they can speed up your internet.. but is it really possible to speed up your internet connection more than your ISP provides? how technically it's possible? any idea?

I don't think so. If your bandwidth is only 100 Mbps, you'll only get 100 Mbps for internet connection. The other things that affect the loading of websites in your computer, is due to either other programs running in the background or you have less memory in your hard drive to be used as virtual memory; your RAM is too small; and/or your CPU speed is weak in order to run well. Hope this helps. Happy MyLotting!

yeah that's what I think.. but few discussion states that my internet speed would be doubled if I install that and all.. which I don't believe..

Speed up internet connection more than ISP provide? It's impossible my friend, that just like you ask to park big truck in mini/small garage. Some software claims that they can speed up internet connection. That possible but I didn't use it. For some reason I believe if I choose to add software to this purpose it gonna increase possibility someone can hacked my system. That why I choose to re-organize (setting) my system so my PC can run effectively.

Hi dude Even I have hear that it is possible. But what I think is that it is not possible. I mean there is no way we can increase speed of our internet by lot from what our service provider is giving. I don't think it is possible. There can be little change in speed but it is only minor. For high speed we only need to upgrade our plan from our service provider. I have experience of few softwares like DAP. But what they did is that they provide highest possible speed of our internet service provider without any interruption... I mean sometimes our internet connection keep getting lost and slow without reason, so such software can give us little comfort for this problem. Not more than this. That's what I think..

yeah.. same I think.. I use DAP, I use torrent.. I use softwares to boost up speed and also do many manual things.. but I don't know it's possible or not to increase speed more than your ISP

Although I did not need, at least speed up my internet connection, I must say that I have ever heard about this subject. I believe that there are software that allow you to navigate, as well as a download much faster than the default one assigned by your ISP. What are these software, I honestly do not know. I have a fiber optic connection, with a company that, in Italy I would say the fastest.

but how they can fetch speed more than ISP provides? if they do from ISP it's illegal and if they have their own backbones then what's benefit for them?

I also heard this before but I haven't tried yet, I hope it's true because I want my connection to be faster because it takes me 5 minutes just to reply on one discussion here on mylot because of my slow internet connection.

I would most certainly be interested in learning more about this factor of computing. Connection speed varies because of internet side events not internal to our pc however if our pc is not running smoothly it can appear that we are not running fast on the internet because our processing speed on our computer is inhibited. So the answer I think is, no, internet speed is out of our control but our computers can be tuned up, to run better. Our computer is the car, the track with the pace car is the internet and the software, the gas and spark plugs. Keep on racing lovedude.

yeah.. but we can tune up too.. it won't make speed faster than our ISP speed

True the pace car is going to dictate track speed but if your engine isn't running right you can still fall behind? I meant I've read that the choice of browser can make for slower or faster page loads. I have this 2nd old computer with windows 98 on it and old version of ie, I plug in sometimes. It still shows web pages but does a few hickups and slows down to a crawl depending where I go on the net, on the same isp. That is an extreme example. I wonder what actual improvement we can see by playing with our computers. I agree if the isp is a dud then we are stuck with slow as a way of life. Oh, I do notice that some pages seem to be running things on computers now. That would be scripting right? Depending on the speed of your pc you can be waiting in the end zone for a break. Mine xp machine is a old slugger, it would be nice to sit in with Jimmy Johnson as I can see him up there making lap after lap in the lead. Then there is Indy.

You can't simply do that, it's technically impossible to do so. Your internet speed is limited mainly and foremost in your ISP servers configurations (you can't bypass that no matter what you do locally) and second by the physical transmission line (phone or cable have a certain bandwidth limit which cannot be increased by software). What those softwares can really do is to optimize your own PC and give your an impression of a faster browsing. Mainly that's achieved by trying to increase available RAM and with better caching strategies, so programs respond faster. In those cases what really happens is that, once the data reaches the computer from internet, it must be interpreted by the browser to display the page, that display process is the one that those program target, not the real data retrieval which is the true bottleneck of internet (large files download will still run at the same speed). Another thing those programs do is to fine tune some of the TCP/IP stack, so that it goes faster for some particular cases. That works by reserving less bandwidth for system usage and leaving it to applications, which may have a small boost on the speed of browsing. Again, this does NOT increases your speed, just makes the OS waste less of it. The real speed is the one the ISP defines and cannot be increased without going for a bigger plan.

I never heard any software that is capable of that, better to upgrade your speed connection as far as I know in our country the standard speed for internet shop is 4mbps, that is super fast, still you can actually tweak the loading time of any webpage by removing the unnecessary add-on or application, and those programs which update themselves, cause they continuously using your bandwidth.

Actually, don't expect those software to give you a big boost like making your internet connection exceed your subscribed speed, but rather these softwares will somehow optimize your internet connection so that you can maximize the speed.

I've tried some kind of software like that before. But i getting dissapointed because there is no difference in the speed of my internet. If you think it carefully, it seems imposible to get more faster speed than the internet providers max speed quota. So now, i never use any kind of softwares like that anymore because i think there is no difference in the internet speed. Happy mylotting...

Greetings, Most of the softwares on the internet promises this but as far as i know TuneUp Utilities is one of the software that can boost your internet speed. Though it can provide more than your ISP providers, TuneUp helps by fixing up the technical factors inside your PC such as the PC hard disk space and the TCP/IP Protocol.
