Why do people have a tattoo on their legs, back, chest only to cover thenm up with clothes. If you want a tattoo really bad and want to spend money on it, then why cover it up, or bother having it domne at all.I can understand if you are in your twenties, or do body building and even have them on show, but to spend money and do not show off what you have had done is just a waste to me.

people do a lot of things just to fit in , personally I never saw the need, I like my body just the way it is and I'm comfortable within my own skin. so stuff like piercings and tattoos are out of the question for me. Besides your right it's just too much money to spend when I could spend that same amount on something I get more enjoyment out of .

My husband got a tattoo in honor of a friend who passed away, yes he spent some money and some time on it, but he works in a profession where having visible tattoos are frowned upon. He got it high on his right arm. He proudly shows it off during the summer, or away from students, but keeps it covered during the school day.

I was never a fan of tattoos. I think it is ridiculous. I agree with you. If you're going to get one, then at least get it in a place where it will show. If you're proud of it and want to show it off.

I have three tattoos as of now and they are in spot where I can hide them if I want or they can be seen. A lot of people stereotype others by there tattoos and in professional jobs you're more than likely not able to have visible tattoos

Some people spend alot of money to get a tattoo just for their loved ones. These may be in there private parts and only meant for that special person.

The other side of that is,why do people feel they have to wear inappropriate clothing just to show off their Tattoos? Working in a Restaurant,You'd think people might dress up to come out for the evening, and instead what we get is T-shirts (through the winter !) baring those stylised "Tribal" Tats and arm designs..

As not everybody will appreciate to the tattoo. For example, if you apply for a teaching job to teach children. Then having the tattoo is not a good thing. It will leave a bad impression to the parents or the headmaster. I love China

It might get pretty cold if you left your tattoos hanging out in the winter, rfl, but seriously, they probably have two lives that they try to lead...leisure time and career. Eh?

I think people do not think thoroughly about what they are doing. They do it on a whim and then when the feeling is over they don't want it there anylonger. It is a serious endeavor and people really need to think about what they are doing. It is a waste and it puts a stamp on your body that is hard to remove.

That is goo question. I know some people have to at where they work because of their uniform. I see so many tattoos on pro athletes when they play! What I am saying some people do show off their tattoos! I do see woman in summer with short and tank tops on showing off their tattoos. I have seen men walk around shirtless in the summer showing off the tattoos. So in away people do when the weather is right! Other then that I have no idea why some people hide their tattoos.

Most people ho get tattoos get them because of sentimental reasons, an expression, or something special for them. Well, I have a whole lot of friends who have tattoos who do not show their tattoos off in public.

I think tattoos can be very personal. They aren't always necessarily 'for show'. I know quite a few people who have really meaningful tattoos that they don't really care to showcase to the world. One of my good friends has a tattoo she got just for her good friend, who was hit by a drunk driver while biking and passed away (at the young age of 21). That one is on her back. You don't see her wearing midriff halter tops and whatnot to show it off. I think it's personal for her and people like her - just knowing they have it. My sister, who has about a bagillion tattoos everywhere, got a mallard duck for our mutual grandpa who passed about 10 years ago. He was amazing, and for some reason he liked mallard ducks (not sure why on that note..lol) but she has that on the side of her foot - where not too many people can see it. I think it's actually kind of annoying when people get tattoos 'just for show'. I have no tattoos, but in my opinion they should be meaningful and not just about 'looking cool' or the attention they'll get for putting it on display.

I guess some people are in a situation wherein they can't show their tatts. Some working in sales have to hide them since not all their prospective clients are in favor of people having tatts. I mean, there's a possibility that a client wouldn't buy from you just because of a tatt. And it's not really appropriate to brandish them when you're in a formal business setting. Well, that's the case in my country where people with tatts are still stereotyped negatively.

Cause some peoples do it for personal satisfaction also they only show it to some peoples. Cause most people watch tattoo as a negative sign.

Well some people cover up their tattoos for a job. I know my sister got a tattoo on her arm and her job told her she would get fired if she didn't cover it because it was not professional. So, in that case I understand it. =)

Well, there are many places where people walking without pants or shirts is a bit unacceptable. Anyway, it is just true that sometimes you have to cover a tattoo up in the real world. In a typical work environment some people perceive people with tattoos as vulgar, or inappropriate people. Granted this may not be true, but there are still many people who do not understand why people receive tattoos.
