How would you decorate the rooms if you had your own hotel?

Yesterday I visited a website that belongs to a hotel in Bangkok. The hotel is called Mystic place, and the rooms are very unusual. There is a pink room, a Chinese room, a room with furniture from the 1950's, a room with recycled materials, a room where the decorations are optical illusions, a room where the chandelier is made from toilet brushes and many other unusual and colourful rooms. When I looked at the pictures I starting thinking about my own ideas for a hotel. If I had my own hotel I would create a hotel where all of the rooms were unique. I would like to create one room from each country in the world and decorate the rooms with pictures, photos, drawings and other things from that country. I think that it could be interesting to create a hotel where every country in the world was represented. Of course it is could be really expensive to fulfill that dream, so it is not going to happen unless I win a huge amount of money Imagine that you had the chance to open your own hotel. Which kind of hotel would you choose? How would you decorate the rooms? And what kind of food would you sell in the restaurant?

I would have sections of different cultures. Traditional Japanese, Traditional Chinese. Indian (America), Indian (Asia), Greek, North American, African....something like that.

That sounds like a really interesting hotel. I think that it could interesting to create a hotel where many different cultures were represented. I would love to decorate the rooms myself and find ways to express the different cultures I once visited a hotel that was a bit like the one you described, but it was a very small place with about 10 rooms or something like that, and if I made my own hotel I would like a build a relatively big hotel were many different cultures were represented.

It was a very nice place. My husband and I stayed in the Indian rooms, it was very beautiful with many nice decorations. I wish I could also create a place like that hotel. I would like to have many rooms, because there are a lot of different cultures and countries that I would like to illustrate. I would find it hard to build a small hotel, I have too many ideas and there are so many interesting countries and cultures around the world

If I do have my own hotel, I would give a modern luxurious touch to the hotel rooms. I can either tile or carpet the ground with very light color such as white. and have some furniture colored black. So the things in the room would only be the combination of white and dark color. It seems modern that way. Of course, the table and the bathroom should be glass and have glasses to separate toilet and bathtub. As for the food in restaurant, I would make sure that it covers from desserts to some main course which can be Western, Asian and other types of cuisine. I would provide free buffet breakfast with wide spread of food and of course there will be buffet option for lunch and dinner too. Food should be of variety and fresh.

I have seen some pictures from a hotel in New York. They also used a combination of white and black colours and it looked great. I think that hotel that you described would look very cool and modern. During our trip in Asia I have seen many different hotel rooms. Some of the rooms were very beautiful and they made me fantasize about the decoration of my own hotel (if I had one) I think that a variety of food is important. If I had own restaurant I would make sure that my visitors had access to many different types of food including some nice desserts.

I like your idea. It sounds great! I have an idea of a cost effective type of hotel too...I want to make use of container vans and transform them into hotel rooms...It'll be easier to design inside as the structure is already set, you only need to interior design it the way you'd want it to look. I want all the furniture in the hotel rooms be hidden and make space if I were to use container vans. You only need to pull out beds, tables, tv's and the like when you need to use them. It's a dream also which I wish I can make if I win a large amount of money! (^_^) When it comes to food in the restaurant, I want an international buffet, so everyone can enjoy different kinds of cuisine from all over the world! How I wish I can come close to my dream!

That is sounds like a great idea, it is different from other hotels that I have heard about and I like that. I would like to create a unique hotel with decorations from around the world. I wish I had the money to create that kind of hotel, but unless I win a lot of money that hotel will probably remain a dream. I would also like to have a international buffet in my hotel, I think tbat it could be cool if every continent was represented. I would like to create a restaurant where the guests are able choice food from any part of the world

thats can be a funny answer. let me tell you if one could have his own hotel does he need to spend time in thinking how his room looks, he just need to hire a professional in the field of interior designer and rest assured as professional know their job. back from the dreamy situation if i have a hotel then i prefer to choose the rooms with lots of flower and acquarium into it.

I think that it would be a lot easier to hire an interior designer to ask him or her to design the rooms for me, but I am interested in design myself, so I don't want to ask someone else to do it for me. I think it would be more fun to do it on my own. I would like to design a hotel where every room was unique. I would use different colours in each room and I try to design the rooms according to the different countries in the world. Maybe I would make a European floor, an Asian floor etc, that could be fun.

in my imagination, if i had the opportunity to open a hotel, i would like to make hotel with the theme of the culture of my country (Indonesia), because my country (Indonesia) is a country that rich in culture, and i would like introduce it to the international world through my hotel

I think that would be an interesting hotel. I am interested in visiting your country on day, but my knowledge about Indonesia is quite limited. I only know some of the famous places like Jakarta and Bali, so it could be interesting to stay at a hotel like yours and learn more about Indonesia that way.

If I owned a hotel and could decorate it in any manner I choose, I would go for traditionally modern theme with fluid lines and subtle, soothing colors with an open floor plan. I would fill the rooms with as many amenities as possible. Simple elegance and luxury would be what I would be striving for with an absolutely relaxing environment for my guests. I would staff it with the most professional people I could find who were exceptionally skilled in retro etiquettes. The lighting would be abundant but soft. It would be a hotel of old with modern conveniences and down right opulence, giving a whole new meaning to the phrase: "living in the lap of luxury".

It sounds like your hotel would be a very nice and luxurious place to relax after a busy day. It is important to find the right staff, because that makes it easier for the guests to enjoy their stay. I would also pick out the staff for my hotel very carefully and I would make sure that they are able to able to speak several languages so that they are be able to communicate with guests from around the world.

I'd want it to look oriental for it to have a relaxing feel. I'd probably fill the room with bamboo designs, varnished wood, white bed sheets, lamps, and candles.

That sounds nice. When the guests are tired after a long day of sightseeing etc they need a nice place to relax. I am looking for hotels in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam at the moment, and I hope that we can find a good place to relax and spend the night, because we are going to be very busy and do lots of sightseeing all day long.

If i had a chance to open my own hotel.I'd select a site close to a natural beauty lake the sea/lake or mountain.I'd then use all natural material like wood in all the rooms.I will put a painting of a lovely scenery to gaze after roaming the whole day.All the eating places will be natural and casual.

I once stayed at a hotel close to a lake. There was an amazing view from the restaurant and in the evening we spent the time outside the hotel close to the lake. We watched the sunset and the birds and it was a really nice experience to stay there. The hotel was expensive because of the location close to the sea, but I think that it was worth the money. I like your idea of a hotel in area filled with natural beautiful, it would be a great place to relax after a busy day

I would do floors by my favorite movies. Since I have eclectic taste there would be something for everyone. There is a hotel in my little town that has fantasy suites. Each suite has a hot tub of somesort.

Those fantasy suites sound interesting. In which country is the hotel? I like your idea of using your favourite movies. I have never seen a hotel where they have done that. I like hotels that are different from the ordinary hotels, and it is fun to dream about the decorations that I would choose and read which ideas other people would choose for their hotels.

Yesterday when I visited the website that belongs to Mystic place in Bangkok I noticed that they had a Chinese room. It said in the description that the artist who decorated the room got his inspiration from Chinese folk tales, but on the pictures we couldn't really see much of the room. I would like to see the Chinese hotel that you would create Undfortuneately it is expensive to open your own hotel and for most of us it will remain a dream, but it is still nice to fantasize about the topic and hear which kinds of hotels that the other Mylotters would create.

Well firstly i would conduct a public survey so that potencial patrons fill in a quiz on how my hotel's deco should be. Majority rule- after all you should make the client happy

Yes, if the clients don't like your ideas, they are not going to visit your hotel and your hotel won't become a success. I think that it be a good idea to do some research at first to find out if there is a market for the kind of hotel that you would like to start. I don't think that I would let the majority decide, but I would be interested in hearing other people's opinions about my ideas before I started.

oh my! designing rooms in a hotel would be anyone's dream. too bad i don't have my own hotel, but i can still dream. I also love watching interior designing shows, the latest trends and all that. i would love to design a modern room and a traditional room. so in one room all the modern arts will be seen while in the traditional room all the filipino culture will be reflected. contrasts really give a fresh feeling, having the same elegant room will be boring. I would mix chinese, spanish, korean and Filipino cuisine. for me these are the best in the world.

I like watching interior designing shows, too. I like to watch how they transform the rooms, and sometimes I get new inspiration for my own home that way. The mix between a modern room and a traditional room that you describe could be an interesting combination. My own idea was a room from every country in the world and I still like that idea, but your response inspired me to combine the new and the modern and I got one more idea. I would like to to create hotel was there each floor represented a decade. The first floor could be the 1920's, the second floor the 1930's etc, that could be fun. I have never had the chance to eat food from the Philippines or from Korea, but I hope to try some dishes from those countries one day.

if i own a hotel, i will make it become a worldwide hotel, where you can find all the decoration from different country. and the food to be sell most probably will be the chinese food and japanese food such as sushi, soba and so on, of course western food is also playing an important role, since most of the people like to eat western food

Decorations from different countries sound great. There are lot of different countries in this world, and it would be possible to create many different kinds of rooms that way. I like Chinese food, but I have never had the chance to eat much Japanese food. I like the mix of food from Asia and the western world that you mention, that way many people would be able to find some food that they like.

I've often thought of that too. I think a hotel with rooms themed from each country would be a great idea. Or, maybe you could theme each floor of the hotel by country, and the rooms could be by region of that country.

That would also be a possility. Some countries are very big and the different regions are very different from eachother, so it would possible to create rooms that represented the different regions. If I made a Danish floor one of the regions would Fyn and the islands (the area where I live) It would be fun to create decorations from my area, but of course I would also include many other areas.

That sounds very nice. It would be a great place to spend a romantic weekend for two. I like antiques and history, and I would love to spend the night in room with many antiques. It reminds me of a the hotel where my husband and I spent our honeymoon. It was a small romatic place with a very nice atmosphere, and I really liked the flowers and the other decorations.

Yes, it is just a dream. If I won a lot of money I might do through with the idea, but unless that happens it will remain a dream. The hotel that you want to create sounds really nice and luxurious and I am sure that it would be a great experience to spend the night there.
