should we humans bernate in the winter too?

I often think that when the weather starts to feel cold and everything is a struggle it would be nice to hibernate like the animals do and wake up in the Spring. If there was a machine invented to allow human hibernation each year would you do it?

I don't know about total hibernation, but I've read that we need more sleep in the winter. It seems to be a natural response to shorter days and lack of light. I don't know if I'd allow a machine to create hibernation for me, but a natural partial hibernation sounds good to me!

We sleep more during winter because during winter because the metabolic activities like urination etc become slow during winter. Our digestive system requires an optimum temperature to digest our food. If this temperature drops there would be difficulty in digestion which mostly occurs during winter. Hence, our body has less energy to do works in winter. Hence, we opt for sleeping more in winter. This is the reason.

Yep... like I said, we have a natural response to shorter days and lack of light. Not every place has cold weather during winter, though.

Haha, it would be great if we can hibernate throughout the winter xD but then a hibernating machine? Sound wrong somehow. Not exactly what I would call natural. But then, if we were to hibernate, I believe we would need to stuff ourselves with food, till our belly burst, before going into hibernation. 3 months of sleep is it? Well, in my country, there is no snow, so no chance to hibernate. Maybe next time xD hibernation. Sleep like a log, wow i bet when we wake up it would be like Sleeping beauty who had just awaking from her deepest slumber==. Though, kissed my Spring. XD bad joke. So yea .hahaha

I kind of do when our weather is nasty....I love staying in and working on my crafts etc not leaving home unless its absolutely necessary...so yes I would love to hibernate!

I don't think so. Because hibernation is called winter sleep in normal English. This is really meant for those animals that will take some long sleep during winter. They do so in order to sustain during winter's cold. generally, Food is a great problem during winter, These animals would decrease their metabolic activities during winter. But, Humans cannot afford this type of impulse response. Even though a machine has been invented, we cannot do as we have other works which are important to us rather than sleeping.

I am in for it. Somehow I think many people are, esp. if you feel the need for more sleep. Waking up slim would be a great too (not to forget to mention how much money I will save on food, heathing my house, etc).
