Hello there my friends, trust that you are all well and 2012 is being good to you all. I'm doing fine, been very busy away from mylot, just everyday things, nothing exciting. Fallen off the diet a few times and eaten rubbish food which has then made me feel real bad.. I'll never learn will I? I'm sitting at the pc with my shawl wrapped around my shoudlers as I'm so COLD!!! They say we may have some snow tomorrow, or at the most at the weekend!!! And I have to be out at work all day tomorrow so that will mean going from my cold house into outside, cycle ride to work house/clean in a hot house and then out into the cold to next hot house etc and then home to a cold house! Our heating system is not very good, hubby says I should put some meat on my bones!!! LOL. Hope I don't fetch a cold. What I started out for on this discussion before I got widely sidetracked is to ask all of my friends on mylot, 1) Is it COLD where you are living in the world and... 2) Are you (feeling) cold If you are all cold we could all get together, collect some wood and have a lovely big campfire and warm our bodies around it, throw some tatties in the embers and we could have a lovely sing song, maybe heat some soup up and have a big catch up What do you think? Someone poked a hole in your part of the world and let all the warmth escape into my part of the world. It has been very spring like almost all winter. Almost warm enough to wear shorts. Am I catching here that you bicycle to work? Brrr. Now we are supposed to get much colder weather for a few days here, but no moisture unfortunately. Let's build a fire as you said, and snuggle. No, wait, I have to work. I work until midnight most nights this month.

No wonder you stay so slim. You burn even more doing it in the cold.

Well they can just come and fill that hole back in very quickly, as I don't like them doing that! Shorts.... my son wore shorts to go football training outside last night!! Brr made me feel even colder! Yes I do cycle to work, I have a 2 hour job tomorrow morning, followed by a 1 hour 30 min job other end of town then back up other end of town for another 2 hour job and then back down the other end of town for an 1 hour job. Have tried very hard to move people about so I don't spend my time keep going up and down town (took jobs on at different times) but as they are eldery they all like there slots and won't change, but think of those extra calories I lose keep going from one end of town to the other end of town

I am cold due to the freezing cold weather outside. My car had iced up windows again this morning. In my bungalow it is colder than normal because the central heating has stopped working. I have an electric fire in my lounge and it is cold in the rest of my bungalow. I take a hot water bottle to bed with me. Yes, the fire with all of us on My Lot sounds great. This morning my dial in my car said the temperature was minus one and a half.

Hi there, How are you doing? We are in the same country so I'm glad in a way that someone else is as cold as me! You like to travel about a lot, don't you? Do you like traveling to different places in this cold weather? I don't, just going out to work is bad enough for me. Hope you get your heating sorted out very soon, espically with you having two young children and a disable son, you need to keep them all warm. My children have hot water bottles, I have an electric blanket on my bed, kept it on all last night, our heating system works but its just not that good, good job we are used to the cold. When my husband came home this morning from his night shgift, his car dial was reading -6!!!! Lovely to catch up with you

Hello again Anne. You husband's car dial read minus six so that was an awfully cold temperature. It does get colder in the night than it does in the day. My daughter is only two years old. She has just gone down with an eye infection. Therefore she can't go to her childminder because of this. We are sitting close to the electric fire in our lounge. The rest of my bungalow is extremely cold. As you know I love to travel to different countries. Only on one trip did I choose to visit Central Europe in January 1992. The was so freezing cold and snow was all over the place. My favorite season is summer and I like spring too. I will be having Argentina and Chile in their autumn our spring. I generally like the shoulder season for flight prices. I hope that March will be warm and springlike.

Hello you guys nice to catch you together, it is cold -5 in Bristol but not windy so it's not too bad. Sorry to hear your heating systems aren't good, mines just over a year old and is working fine, good heating is really necessary now this weather is here. Had the insulation done 2 years ago and it really shows in the low fuel bills, last months was nearly £60. Even if you have double glazing another layer across the windows will help decrease the heat loss.

Wait, you said you, "cycle ride to work house/clean in a hot house and then out into the cold . . " Do you ride a bike from one house to another to clean it? I do that, but only one house once a week on Thursdays. I also live in a home that isn't well heated, so I can relate.. I am sorry it is so cold there, I don't know if I could ride my bike if it was too cold, I'd prefer to walk so I can bundle up more. Here, though the usual climate at this time of year is freezing with snow and ice, we are experiencing a very mild winter, it is sunny and in the 60's, so I came home and was still hot from my work. I hope spring comes early for you..

The house I go to is walking distance, but I get there quicker riding my bike. So you are a size 7 or 8? Wow, you are tiny, I am sure you can find really nice clothes, I know my daughter does because of her small size..

Yes, you are correct, I also do get a nice cup of tea at every house, which does mean I then need to go to the toilet at every house as it goes through me fast in this cold weather, plus I have no meat on me being a size english 8 (well my english size 8 jeans are slighty too big so I think I'm a size 7 most of the time) Glad that you can relate to my job and cold house, so I always come home to a cold house even if the heating is on as my old folk like "hot" houses!! My houses thatI clean are too far apart to walk, would only walk if it snowed, I would then run 3/4 hour late all day. Hope Spring comes early as well. At least you can get warm by cycling and its extra excerise

It has been in the 70's here in Texas and I am surprised not to see any very cold temps at all here, we had some rain and are going to have more soon! I love it because we desperately need it and as long as I am at home I love it! But the weather man said not to get too used to it because we will get some cold temps soon but it has been so nice I have been leaving the windows open and doing yard work and going for walks.

me too Anne, I crawled back into bed as I was sitting here typing and shivering. our room is so cold in the mornings and at night.I asked for and got a heavy comforter and two worn but still warming blankets. And we are here in sunny 'S outhern california. But its been going down to 40 and 38 close to freezing. the thing here is our house and our buildings are not built for freezing weather but sunny warm weather. seems this winter has been weird, one day down to almost 32 then warm up to almost 80. and from Dec through January we have had a seige of bad flu

It's in the mid thirties in the morning but in the sixties through out the day, we actually had a mild winter so far. My apartment is always chilly cause I keep my heater down at 70 since I don't want a high power bill. The way my windows face I get hardly any sunshine in the winter but more than I like in the summer. I wish I had a fire place.

Here is Wisconsin we have had a seasonal warm winter with not alot of snow! In January it is coomon to see single digits and below zero. Did not see any of that! We had one nice snow storm of like 5 inches and that was it! Must of the time we are in the 30's and 40's F! At night is has been in the low 30's and high 20's! So with the little snow I except we will have another rainy spring and a very rainy summer! That is the way it usually goes!

Hi Anne, as from my area here, i am feeling very hot and humid. It is seldom rains in here. But, it is lucky that it did rained for a few hours on yesterday evening. Since, i seldom go outdoor, so i will just stay indoor and switched on the air-cond. At least, it free myself and my son from the heat. I really hope able to switch place with you one day, so able to feels that cold.

Hi there! It's my first winter ever but where I am, people here say so far the winter is mild. I'm in Canada as of the moment and it gets cold a couple of days in the week, like -25+ deg C (incl windchill). But on the following days, it gets a little warmer. Like today is about 1 deg C. It's supposed to be colder at this time but so far it's been bearable. I like it but I still like summer the best. Especially because it reminds me of the weather in my home country. But, you know, that campfire and soup sound awfully nice! =) Keep warm now!

They didn't the other evening, so was even colder than normal when I went to bed! Thank heavens for eletric blankets

World remains what it is all the time -- a few months you have cold climate and in a few months you have summer. To keep ourselves warm we should cover our body with sweaters or jerkins and also stay inside a room provided with heater. While staying in USA we use to do like that. Inside the house I use to wear only a banian, a shirt and a nice sweater over that besides pants, In Chennai --the climate is --hot, hotter or hottest -- min i 25 deg.c so no need for any winter clothing at all. we have to use fans and AC.

Yes it is very cold over here (live in the east part of the Netherlands). I hear on the news there is no snow in the east part of my country but if I look outside there is. I wear a scarf (or two) too inside the house and some gloves (only not while typing). We all go to bed with hot water bags to try to keep warm. I really hope the temp will rise because it's no fun anymore :-( Otherwise I have to move my daughter into an other room (she is sleeping on the ceiling no heath over there.. although the heath we have can hardly warm up the house). So there are times we all sit with blankets and we go to bed earlier. Also we have a hard time to get out of bed. BTW think it's normal to eat more if it's cold so don't feel bad about that! If you make the fire I will bring my cookingpot to hang it above it (instead of soup we can make hot chocolate too!)

I wear gloves in the house as well and in bed, I can type with my gloves on as well. They are cotton gloves as I get really sore hands when it is cold and I like to put lots of E45 cream on my hands and then cotton gloves to help soak the cream into my hands, plus it also means by wearing the gloves I can still get on and do jobs instead of waiting for the cream to soak in. Please bring your cooking pot to the camp fire, looking forward to the hot chocolate

Hiya Anne, Well like you I have got to move around to keep warm sometimes. Its quite difficult as the heating is very expensive to use its that hot air heating. I don´t use a shawl but I use my older jackets and have my Boots on I really don´t care about any silly comments from anyone. You don´t have to put weight on to keep warm just put extra clothing on warm Drinks and hot water bottles wrapped in a blanket for use in Bed or the Sofa.xxx Would love to join your Bonfire and would love to eat some tatties as well I really miss Bonfire Night every year I miss it. Do you still celebrate that then. We have had a bit of Snow but it has gone already but it´s still very cold.xxx

Hiya Anne, You are my best Friend as well as I don´t care how much a Person weighs here there is a real fanatical attitude towards weight problems. Anyway so glad somebody seems to celebrate Bonfire Night as it seems like everyone I know has given it up and its such a shame too. Mainly to keep warm I move around a lot and if not I have one of those blankets that have a velvet like touch I don´t know what they call them in English I really don´t they don´t cost very much and keep you really warm when you are sitting on the Sofa watching the Television which I don´t really watch unless I want to even though it might be on.xxx

The temperature here is up and down depending upon the day. Yesterday it was around 70 and today around 50 maybe. And that is because of the rain. Living in a southern state does have its advantages but I spend many, many years up north with tons of snow and double digits below zero too. I can relate to cold. Hope you don't get sick...try and stay warm when you go in and out of this weather. It would be nice to do what you said about a get together campfire to get to know those you converse with daily. Have a good day and stay toasty!
