Yesterday I spend all day waiting, my daughter is having surgury on Tuesday and she went through all the pretests for that while I waited for her to finish, We were 4 hours doing this. And while I am thankful that they are so careful before they cut on her, I am so tired today I feel like I gained 50 pounds. I do take a book and try to chat with others who are also waiting, but I have not found a good way to pass the time, while waiting. On Tuesday I get to do this all again, but the wait will be twice as long. Maybe I'll take some knitting. Daughter is haveing spinal surgury and all your best wishes and prayers are welcome. Her name is Cristy. Thanks

I certainly hope that her surgery went well today. For me, that is something that I did a lot of last year with my husband going through the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Every time that we had to go to the hospital for some kind of a procedure I would take some crochet with me and when he had chemotherapy, we would always take our laptop with us so that we would both have something that would help us to pass the time.

Waiting, especially for stuff like that, can be very stressful, and being stressed makes you feel tired. There really aren't very many good ways to pass time in hospitals. There's only so much time you can spend reading, chatting with strangers, browsing the gift shop or having a meal in the cafeteria. If possible (depending on weather and neighborhood), you could go for a walk outside. Knitting is a good idea, since you'll have something to distract you and will be accomplishing something concrete at the same time. I hope that your daughter comes through the surgery well.

I hope that everything will go well and I am thinking of Christy. It sounds like they are being very careful. You certainly need something to take with you to keep your mind occupied. Be sure to try and get some rest. Take care.

I will keep her in my thoughts. I know what you mean about waiting. I have no patients whatsoever. I cannot stand waiting. But sometimes we have no choice. But taking a book or like you said, knitting is a good idea. Some people take laptops with them and go online to pass the time.

It really true that waiting will tire us and make us bored. You know there is another way wherein you will not be bored. Say a mantra while waiting.

I will pray for your daughter and I hope that the surgery goes well. When it comes to waiting in hospitals and other places where you have to wait a lot I find myself to get really tired as well. And when you get out of there you feel as if you haven't slept in a few days and are just so tired! I always take books to read, or I go on youtube on my cellphone but even that doesn't work. Even If I do take things to pass the time I feel that I get very antsy waiting around. I wish you and your daughter the best and I hope everything goes well. Keep us informed about her surgery.

I would definitely bring some things to pass the time away. Too bad you didn't have an IPhone. My husband stored some movies on my IPhone which come in very handy for occasions such as that. But even if you don't have one bringing your book is also a good idea. I love reading so this also helps me to pass the time away as well. As for your daughter I will most definitely be keeping her & your family as well in my prayers.

I wish your daughter a safe surgery, hope she gets better soon. As for waiting , it definitely hard especially in situations like yours. If we can only speed up time, so far, we can only prove to slow it down, which is not very helful. Perhaps a book, or something you are really interested in, these types of activities usually help time to fly by. I give my regards to your daughters and the rest of your family, everything will be alright. Cheers!

I hope that your daughter will have a safe successful surgery and her fast recovery.God will bless her and always there for her. Waiting is really quite hard to deal with,I do hate waiting for long but sometimes I have no choice.I usually have my music player with me and a book to accompany me while waiting especially when waiting alone.Sometimes sleep could help too and playing psp games too.Waiting is a really proof of "Patience is a virtue".

Sometimes our body gets tired even if it seems we are not doing anything physically strenuous. Worried minds have great effect on our body. So try to do anything to ease your mind; if it is praying, then I am sure you've already been doing that. Best wishes and speedy recovery for Cristy.
