Living IN your Dreams

I have had some great dreams lately. Not of being rich or famous. Not of meeting my dream guy. But of making memories I've never had. What do I mean? My grandfather passed away two years ago this month. I adored him. I dreamed I was with him and my grandmother (who is still living) and we were talking, sitting in the house they owned for most of their marriage. I asked him what he was doing here and he said God had let him come back for a few days. And it was a great dream. Then I had a dream I was driving down the road with my mother. And I was so proud of her because she could drive. Most of you know my 52 year old mother has dementia, and has not been able to drive for a couple years now. The last time she drove she almost drove us over a hill because she didn't realize what she was doing. Anyway, we were talking as she drove and I told her how proud I was of her that her mind was getting so much better. I bragged on her that she'd be able to drive by herself soon. I'm actually crying as I'm typing this. Because it was such a great dream. I got to have a conversation with my mother before she lost her sense, even if it wasn't real. It was like a gift! I may not get her in real life, but I get these wonderful things in my dreams. How often do you have dreams that are better than you reality? Are your dreams usually good, or bad?

I usually have bad dreams when I dream. I have had a few dreams that weren't bad and there were loved ones in them. They are great. I like having those dreams too.

Ambie, My dreams are great. I don't live in my dreams. The reality that I live in is good too. I am so sorry about your Mom. My grandfather had dementia, so I know how difficult and painful it is to deal with.

The grandfather I talked about had dementia (my mother's father), but he would forgot people and events. My mom forgets what a fork is for, forgets to pull her pants down before she uses the bathroom, says two words and forgets the sentence she was going to say. A few days ago she pointed at a fake background of Chicago and told me that was where she used to work. So random. I've never seen anything like it.

Many of my dreams are just strange but I have, on occasion had the type of dreams you are describing. I would say that these dreams you are having are a gift from God. You need some good things in your life to give you strength and lift you up.

A friend told me recently to put a moonstone under your pillow to help you dream. I have been doing it and it really works. When I don't do it I don't remember any dreams when I wake up.

Ambie, I am not going to lie, when you told about the dream with your mother I was crying to! That is such a beautiful dream and I am glad you were able to dream it. I've also had dreams wherein I was chatting with people who have passed, when my brother passed away I dreamt about him for months and months and months on end and still do occasionally.

Hi Amber, That is wonderful… Yes, I have made memories in my dreams too. I have gone flying with my dad. Dad was a private pilot when I was young. I used to fly with him from the time I was 2 years old until my late teens and early 20s. Those were great times. My dad always wanted me to get my pilot’s license but it never happened for me. I just never got around to it and life got in the way. So anyway, last year sometime, I went flying with my dad in my dreams. He was younger like he was in real life when we flew together. He called me ‘Dolly’… that was his nickname for me. I’ll never forget flying through the heavens with dad.. it was awesome!

There are many times in my life I have dreamed something that often is like an open door and an Inspiration for me. I have dreamed many times childhood dreams like back when I was growing up, or that I was with my Mom again somewhere, or with other family that has passed on. Many times I think it is there to encourage us and show us what we have come thru, and in time no matter what we are going thru, everything is going to be OK.

what i like about my dreams is that i never seem to have pain, be injured or in pain during them. many, i wish they were a little more real.

Must be something in the air. Last night I dreamt that Hollywood wanted to make a movie about my husband and I. I played myself and he was played by Harrison Ford ! There were two others last night, too. However, for the life of me I can't remember them now. Both were good though.

Dearest Ambie these dreams really sound interesting. Right now I have dreams of the bad kind if I remember any of them at all, cause I seem to be working through my past with them so when I wake up and realize what has happened I am glad it was only a dream and these things I dream will never be reality again.

hi there AmbiePam, I have never had a dream like that, your dream is very cool and nlightining, i would also love to dream of people that passed and have some kind of chat with them, i am very much afraid of ghosts but i think that in dreams they would look like they were there alive selves again and that would really be great, i'll talk about the new grand kids and other new entires into the family and politics.
