Therapy

Ever since I was 24 years old, I have attended therapy off and on. It has been a rather complex process but as my years have gathered around me, I am finding some areas of my life have definitely improved. Emotionally, this side will improve but it is definitely a work in progress. Does anyone else attend a therapist or therapy group?

Hello, When my parents were going through a horrible divorce, I saw a therapist. He was very helpful. He helped me through a very difficult time in my life.

I've just started speaking to a therapist about my personal issues and so far the sessions have gone well, but I don't know if I'd say certain areas of my life are where I would like them to be. I don't think anyone can change that for me. However, it is still kind of early and I've got a lot to learn. I guess just having someone to talk to can be therapeutic in itself, but once that person leaves the room, you're all alone dealing with life by yourself again. I just like stability, but there's not much of that to be found in my life. Anyhow, glad to hear your therapy has paid off for you!

If there is any one thing I can pass onto someone is that therapy isn't a magic fix. I have found just having someone to talk to, who understands what I am trying to say and can break it down more so I can understand, that way it makes it easier for me to accept and with any luck let it go and move on. I am glad you are giving therapy a chance, I know how hard it is to be patient, but it will pay off for you!

I've gone to therapy weekly since I was around six years old when my parents got divorced. I've inherited a lot of mental illness that runs in my family, however, with therapy I've learned new tools and resources to help cope which lead me to be a more stable person today. Whenever I have bouts of symptoms, I know which skills to use in order to manage my emotions. It definitely helps you deal with whatever life throws your way.
