I go into the vet for x-rays tomorrow

Oops! I was posting about cats just a minute ago...maybe going to the vet would bring better results than the people doctors! What I mean the x-ray clinic for x-rays. I fell on Feb 2nd and have been having problems with pain in my right ankle and foot. I am hoping it is nothing serious, but I haven't been able to walk well for almost two weeks. I saw the Doctor Friday and he ordered the x-rays to make sure I didn't mess up my left knee (that was the one replaced two years ago) and that I didn't mess up the right one either (it's original equipment). Of course they will see the mess my right ankle is in from when I broke it just before I moved from Montana to California back in 1981. They didn't cast it because I was going to be flying and they were afraid it would swell. I was supposed to get it taken care of when I got to California, but I couldn't afford to have it checked, so it's kind of messed up. Anyhow, send up some good thoughts for me if you happen to think of them today. I really don't want to be laid up with a bad ankle, especially when it's my gas foot. Of course the left foot is for the clutch so that wouldn't be good either!

I super sprained my right ankle years ago, and they put it in this huge cast for a week. I was the only driver, and sprain or no sprain, I had to go to work - so I just tucked my right foot against the front seat and drove with my left... why yes, I have an automatic transmission.... And, yes, we call them "people vets" around here too...

Congratulations, you're the first person who caught the "Vet" goof. I super sprained my ankle in 1971. A friend of mine was at the gym where I fell, and I asked him if he could drive. He said yes and got in the car and couldn't even get it into "R", and the car was automatic. I ended up driving myself to the office to file the accident report and get ice on it before I tried to drive home. I got home and my father took me to the ER, after chewing me out about being so clumsy, to get it checked. Instead of parking at the entrance and getting a wheel chair for me to ride in, he parked as far away from the ER and made me HOP across the parking lot to the ER. Then when they wanted to put me in a wheel chair he told them no, that I was too fat and needed the exercise so I could HOP to where ever they were taking me! I thought the nurse was going to thump him. She put me in a wheel chair anyhow. My ankle was ten sizes too big and I couldn't fit a shoe on it for several weeks. When my father was outside of the room she asked me about his being so "nice" to me. I told her that was the usual way he acted...and that he wasn't one of my favorite people. When everything was done she ordered him to bring the car to the ER doors and pick me up. He started to give her back talk about my being fat and needing exercise and she really tied into him and then told him that if he didn't get the car right now she would not only punch his lights out but she also would report him to the hospital administrator and then admit me. He went and got the car and then grumbled about it all the way home. Like I've said, the one perk about getting x-rays today is I got flowers. Two carnations from my getting the ankle done and then two roses for another x-ray at a separate office. I shared them with Bill because it is Valentines day. I am hoping that it isn't anything that needs surgery. I don't have time to take off to get it fixed right now. It hurts like crazy from all the positioning and it's about three sizes too big...but at least it isn't cancer.

When I drove myself to the hospital, Maggiepie went in and asked if I could park someplace closer to the door because it would've been an up hill hop to get to the ER. They allowed me to park in the doctor's parking because I couldn't get up the hill and Maggie can't drive. Maggie pushed a wheelchair out to me - this was before she became so disabled.

I know it isn't cancer, so that is the biggest thing off my mind. I am still hurting from the x-rays. They moved the ankle around into positions that increased the pain levels. I still am suffering from the effects tonight at 10 p.m. The tech told me that the doctor will have the results this afternoon. That concerns me because we figured that it would take two weeks for the results. The office wasn't quiet, they had a ton of people there for x-rays. So either there was nothing to worry about or there is something that sticks out like a sore thumb. Either way, there isn't too much I can do about it so I'm not going to fret too much. I have to get bears finished for Bill to take to his son on Friday. The son is suffering from terminal cancer and his time is very short. I want him to have a teddy bear to be there with him to comfort him. Anyway, I will keep everyone in the loop about the ankle. The one great perk about getting x-rays today is I got two carnations from one x-ray place and two roses from the other. I gave Bill a rose and a carnation for his bed side table.

Well, in our case, it is sort of possible. Our vet was the A&P instructor when hubby was taking some classes at the community college. I am sure she could also do human x rays quite efficiently. Maybe you re broke that ankle that you messed up in 1981, in which case it is time to get it fixed correctly.

I kind of think that's the case, that I may have broken a small bone in the area. I hate like crazy to think that it might involve surgery. Especially since I can't really use crutches because of my neck and shoulders. I was thinking about a previous discussion that was talking about vets, so I slipped up when I posted it, and decided to let it stay this way. I thought it was kind of fun, especially since one thing my Mom used to say was that the vets in this area were better than most of the doctors. I found the x-rays interesting because they didn't use any film. It's totally digital now which eliminates developing and more. My doctor should have the results today and who knows, I may know the results tomorrow. I promise to keep you in the loop though, no matter what the news.

Actually it wasn't too bad, both x-ray places gave me flowers because it was Valentine's day. The bad side was that they had me hold my ankle in positions that were really painful. Plus the pain hasn't subsided yet. Oh well, maybe they will find out the cause of the pain. The tech for the ankle and knee xrays told me that the results will be sent to the doctor today. It is concerning me because they are busy, which was the first reason for them to get the reading done, because they weren't busy. Secondly, they may get it done because they saw something in the x-ray that needs to be dealt with. Or, there is noting wrong and all the pain in the ankle is my over active imagination (which is highly doubtful.) But the one thing I learned to do is not to worry about things I don't have control over, which means the x-rays. Thank you so much for your prayers. I don't ask for God for things for me, I always say prayers for everyone else. Other people need more than I do, God has been very very giving to me; with a wonderful Fiance', a nice home, loving critters and fairly good health. Who could ask for more? I thank him for his many blessings he's given me and then pray for others.

Thank you for your prayers. Fortunately it isn't for something really serious like cancer! I just want to be able to walk once in a while without pain. I always loved to walk and could walk 20 miles without getting tired. Now it is so painful to stand, let alone walk that I am miserable. I want to be able to walk like I used to do. But if it isn't to be, then I accept it. I may have brought the problem on myself with not taking care of the ankle break in 1983. If it is something serious, I am sure the doctor will call me tomorrow about it. He's a really great doctor and very considerate and even remembers us both by name. Of course we were his first patients on his first day at the new job. Again, thank you for your prayers and I will keep everyone in the loop.
