Congratulations on your dietry achievements! I've been a vegan organic raw-fooder since August last year & vegan for over ten years before that. I was gluten intolerant long before any of that & lactose intolerant long before that even. I find it much healthier & easier the way I'm eating now compared to before. There is still so much vegan & vegetarian junk food around! I eat nothing that I don't prepare myself, that way I know more about what's in the stuff. Are you planning to bring your child up on a vegan diet?

Oh - & I don't take supplements. They're expensive & I don't need them. Supplements are totally redundant in a properly planned well-balanced diet.

wow congratulations to you as well...i do raw too, i do prepare our own meals and my daughter now is 1 year and 6 months i started to give her raw vegetables aside from fruits but on veggies that i gave to her as a raw i did not bought it on the market...i get it from our backyard...her in my place not all the things i needed for a complete vegan diet i could found so i gave her for the mean time a supplement to complete...i agree with you as well that we could get all the supplements needed on a proper balanced diet, but it is too expensive here in my place, back there in the big city i could get all the things i need to cook in a vegan way since it is available in any malls but not here in my place...hopefully someday i could and i will raise her up to be a vegan...:)

I am a vegetarian, i.e. I still eat eggs and drink milk but don't eat cheese anymore because it usually contains sweet whey powder which animals had to die for. I have certain doubts in regard to milk but mainly they are not of ethical nature. It's more due to the discussion about whether or not man originally was able to get milk from cows or not and due to the fact that some people don't tolerate lactose: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactose_intolerance in regard to eggs I think that humans may have always eaten them (not incubated of course and raw) and if we look at the barn fowl we see that they can produce more eggs than they breed anyway even though it has been bred by man (already thousands of years ago though). The hens on a farm (not those in laying batteries) live a very save and carefree life, hence, they profit from as at least as much as we profit from them. Just need to keep the c*cks away...

I am not sure how I could possibly live as a vegan, I have chosen to not eat meat only because I don't like the idea of animals being killed, and I find that hard enough so I think being a vegan would be a lot harder.

I was vegetarian from age four years old and now I am vegan. It is a gradual change into becoming a vegan into my twenties. In in my teenage years I avoided drinking cows milk. I take vitamin supplements to make sure my diet is 100 percent healthy. I take iron, Vitamin B12, omega and multivitamin. My two younger children are growing up as healthy vegans. I love being a vegan and so do my kids.

I have been vegan, vegetarian, and a meat eater. I prefer vegetarian. I have found that there are more choices and it is easier to stick to. I also believe that it is easier to get your required nutrition being a vegetarian rather than vegan. But over all it is a personal choice as to what you want to eat. I've been eating meat for awhile now, and am now going back to vegetarian with the exception of fish for various heath reasons. Yes, I know there is now a fancy word for vegetarians that eat fish and I think it is rediculious. But anyway I also think that our bodies go through various changes and we crave or need different things and different times and that it could be normal to change eating habits. It is much harder to make yourself be something you don't believe in. So many people go vegetairan because it sounds good, or they love animals, or for their health, but they don't really like it and it doesn't work out and they're back to their old habits. Not that this is your situation, I got a bit off topic there, Whether you stay vegetarian or go back to being vegan I think it is wonderful that your baby will be able to begin it's life with a very healthy start, unlike some of us who weren't able to change habits a lot later in life. But its never to late to make changes. Good luck and congrats

Congratulations! I am vegan. I have been vegetarian as well, but I prefer vegan as I usually find out all the gross ingredients in dairy. I believe it is much healthier and it keeps my weight healthy. I'd like to learn how to make "nutritional yeast" cheese sauce though. In the five years I went vegan to vegetarian many more awesome vegan choices were created.

I am strict vegan only for 2 months. I was considering going 100% vegan for some time and I finally decided to do it:) I started to exercise and I needed a lot of energy and quick recovery after exercise, and the best way for do it is to eat plant based diet, high in fresh fruit and vegetables. I am allergic to eggs and milk products, so I wouldn't eat them regardless the diet I choose. I was eating 99% vegan diet since at least 2 years and restricting animal products even longer, I think for more than 4 years. I supplement vitamin b12 and vitamin D in winter. I checked my levels and they were low, especially vitamin D level. These supplements are recommended in a vegan diet so I will take them. All nutrients besides vitamin b12 and vitamin D in winter are available in my diet. I check with http://cronometer.com/ how much nutrients I get with my standard diet and I get them all except vit. b12 and vit. D. I find it easy to be a vegan, I love whole plant foods. I don't eat soy and gluten now because of being intolerant to them. It is possible that I will be able to eat them in the future, but I don't plan to eat a lot of them even if I start to tolerate them again. I eat a lot of fruit, vegetables (potatoes too), grains (mainly buckwheat, rice, millet, amaranth), legumes (lentils, chickpeas, broad-beans, pea and other), small amounts of nuts and seeds (like flax, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut). I like vegan diet because it is healthy, you can eat a lot of food as long as it is whole food and you won't be overweight. My main reason to eat this way is taking care about my health and avoiding doctor this way. Have a nice day, jazgottt.

I would not want to be vegan but maybe I could try to be vegetarian. I think that there are too many limitations in a vegan´s way of eating and many times you cannot even find what you need for a healthy meal at a reasonable price. Now I eat everything, but the older I get, the less I eat meat, specially red meat. But I would like to go on eating fish, eggs and milk, cheeses and other foods that vegans don´t eat. I like organic veggies, I love nuts, but both are quite expensive in my country.
