Pet peeve with toilet seats

You know something that drives me nuts is when people have old worn out toilet seats. Toilet seats are so inexpensive that when I see someone who has one that is worn out it grosses me out so bad. I've seen people with wooden toilet seats where the paint has worn all off in spots and its down to the wood. It makes me wonder how many germs are on the toilet seat lid. My toilet seat lid is plastic so unless a tab breaks that holds the toilet in place with screws then my toilet seat shouldnt wear out and is very easy to clean. Wooden toilet seats are much more comfortable to sit on though but they wear out faster. If they are not shut carefully and are just like pushed down they can crack. I've seen people who actually taped the crack on the toilet seat instead of buying a new one. It isnt that these people cant afford to buy a new one its just them being stingy with their money on the wrong things. If you can afford cigarettes or vacation trips you can afford a new toilet seat.

I prefer plastic as it comes cheap. Wooden one its a no for me because wood and wet don't go together.

I agree with you on that one. I have a toilet seat now for well over ten years and it still looks brand new. It must have been a good one. And it is easy to clean. I sort of like wooden seats, but like you said, they wear out. I do not like those cushioned seats at all. They are the worst.

Exactly. I never liked those cushioned ones at all. I have seen the wooden one, but not they make plastic ones that look like wood. I like the regular basic seat. Clean and easy to wash. I am into whatever is easier.

Well it may be easier for you to wash your toilet seat in the dishwasher. It is dishwasher safe you know. LOL if you do that though I dont think I want to hear about it I might gag. Why they would make a toilet seat dishwasher safe is something I dont understand but thats the way it is none the less lol. I prefer wiping it down with a rag and alochol.

I would never put my toilet seat in the dishwasher. If I ever did that I would never wash my dishes in there anymore. LOL. I rather wash it down like you, with like those clorox wipes or something.

I don't mind a broken, worn, or even missing toilet seat, but the thing that really P!sses me off, is when the toilet paper is an old Sears Catalog hanging on a nail, beside the toilet!

I pretty much don't use any bathroom but my own.I can't help to think about how gross it is,I do pay attention to stuff like that,I definately do not use public bathrooms, all the germs and hands that touched the door knob and the sink.It jussst grosses me out.I'll tell you I wouldn't want a scummy toilet seat in my bathroom.I think it's weird when someone doesn't replace their seat.Maybe it is the money they don't want to spend on it.

My mother is like that. She hardly ever uses a restroom other then her own. In an emergency she will use another toilet but really is grossed out by it. I dont like using them either because I dont know how well they are cleaned but when I have to go to the bathroom I dont want to hold it so I go when I need to. What is awful is when I take my kids in and they have to touch everything or crawl around on the floors it makes me want to vomit.

there are times I suffer myself trying to wait to get home.Sometimes I give in, but I'll never sit on the toilet seat. When my daughter was a little kid I really hated when she crawled around. Especially in a public bathroom.

Leaving the toilet seat up....I cringe. Funny, now that my father is living in our home, when I see this toilet seat in the up position....I think...he must still be alive...he went pee in the night.
