Haha don't mind them. You know some people sees thing weird if you do something, and then when you try to lessen it - they will still question what had happened to you. Been there a number of times before. And sometimes my reaction would be to question them too, which they like for me? Do this or not to do this? They'll just laugh at me and say okay. We just make fun of it.

If you are comfortable reading only for four hours then I suggest you to stick to it. Just assure them that you know what you are doing so that they will not bother asking you about it.

So what exactly do they want you to do? Read less or read more to "be yourself" or whatever. I read all the time like you and i think if I stopped they might wonder if I am okay haha. Maybe tell them you are trying not to read as much and be able to sleep instead of reading til dawn.

i am cutting my reading and still they are not happy about it... i read unlimited (cover to cover) but now it's just four hours a day... but they are still not that happy about it... may be the real problem is that i read more than meeting (dating) people... when my mom say on my age she already have three kids... while i still have zero... as i sees it she does want me to date people... i remember years ago that my father almost push me out the house to go to a party and see people... they just don't want to see their only daughter being single... well i will still talk to them ask the real score why and why they think that reading is still crazy.

Dear friend, I have not fully understood your question. But from what I know I can deduce, I understand that you spend too much time reading. In Italy (my country) there is a saying: "The book is food for mind", so I do not find anything wrong with spending time to read. I am, however, agree that one should never abuse anything, so even a fury in the press, could lead to a pathology. What I tell you, however it is my personal opinion. If you have something to argue on the topic, all you said is well accepted.

i do not want of argue or start a debate here... all i was doing now is cutting my reading habit (they always call it a habit) from unlimited (till i finish from cover to cover) to four hours... so when i did this change still my family thinks that i have gone crazy (they think i am weird)... so now i don't understand what they really want me to do... but one thing i know is that i will never give up my reading...

I do not see anything wrong about realding. It helps you to know better grammar, you have a wide vocabulary, you can explain yourself better by words. I am supporting you with it. It is not good that your parents forbit reading to you.

thank god i am still single! i have no idea what will happen if i have a family of my own... but really i am a very busy person... and i give my reading 50 percent of what i do... i have no idea what you meant by the word family but i am trying to understand my parent's side... well honestly it's kind of embarrassing that my mother is giving a talk about reading... i am way past teenage life and i think that i am old enough to have a family of my own... i read but i doesn't affect my efficiency with my work and my health... i know that my mother is just worried but still she should know that reading is part of the work... and i can't just put down anything... being a journalist means you need to read and always on the look out of the writings of different people... i just need to talk to them again... or just they want to have grandchildren already and seeing their eldest child being single hurts them... god may be they want me to date than read books... that really do make sense don't you think? ohhh god...

Reading is good for you; I'm a reader myself, but we need to keep a balance in our lives. If I read as much as I want, I would never get any exercise or know what was happening in the real world. Your mother has your best interests at heart, no doubt. Interacting with the world around us helps us stay well balanced, both mentally and physically.

i always walk and cycling very day... walk for my daily photo-walks and cycling because it relaxes me... yes reading is not my way of relaxation but more of learning writing styles of different authors. i still don't get them... may be trying to cut off four to two... may be i won't be that weird anymore.

And this is really the reason why I read as I see fit, for however long I see fit. There is really no middle ground that you take. And let's face it, if I am reading a good book, I'll take as long as I please, or as short as I please. That is just the fact of the matter for sure. My advice is to just do what you think is best because reading is a joy and joys are not done on a schedule. Then again, there is no pleasing some people. You will be forever be in misery if you try. I know, I've been down this road before. I read sometimes and I look up, seeing that it is late. When I get into a book, time tends to take a backseat. About the only thing that I try and do is to make sure there is nothing that I need to keep an ear or an eye out for when I start.

Keep reading! Just don't let your reading confuse you from reality and fiction. I've never seen anybody who's read something get that confused, but there were those people who got clinically depressed after seeing the movie 'Avatar,' so it can definitely happen. If your family doesn't read as much as you do, then that could explain why they're so weirded out that you read so much. At any rate, as long as you have a grip on reality, you'll be fine!

in our family the whole family my aunt is the only one that reads non-textbooks our that me... so most of my reading is not for relaxation but more of studying the different styles of writing... well i want to know the different writing styles of my favorite writers... as i read on to their works i found out that example the two authors that i bought most of their book have commonality of all their works... i mean i can see their style of writing... i guess most of you here just read one book of an author (please i am not referring chronicles or series here) but different books... when you do that you won't see their writing styles but if you buy the whole work that they have then you will understand them... and their styles would be so familiar that you will know what the protagonist will be, the plot and the scenes of the book even with out reading the book from end to end... yes i study authors and trying to understand their psychic and may be i can ghost write for them too... so i am not trying to confuse reality and imaginary... i am trying to understand the person behind the work... and i don't just read novels, fictions and not really real books but i also enjoy reading autobiography of political and famous people... but my favorite is the autobiography of an exile and a good poet... i feel sorry for him because he can't came home... their government hates him so much that they would even want to kill his shadow. and that my friend is not just fiction but a true story of a person...

I think thats not bad habits.I know reading is your hobby right. You always reading to increase your knowledge.Maybe your mom start to complaining you because you forget of ur duty. Its mean she want you didnt always spend your time with reading. She just want you remind of ur daily duty.So should have time to your family, your duty, and your hobby.Try to make it all going good in same time.have good day for you.

i think that most of the time i am not thinking of reading just a hobby more of learning... i want to study different writing styles of different authors... that is why i often read different types books. some i would tolerate pocketbooks and would enjoy autobiography ones... the thing is my mother already alerted me about the readings... i always spend a lot of time doing it during the night for i have no time during day time... i have other stuff to do... photography... studying compositions of photography and cooking meals... and research at the web... so i only have time during night and dawn... so i cut my reading but they still complain... and called my crazy... i was kind of a lost there....
