My brother is into weight lifting and he told me that he had read that listening to classical music while weight training is very helpful. The reason is that this type of music is very calming and as a result will help you keep your muscles relaxed. If your muscles are tense, then you will be more prone to injury and you will get tired more quickly. Personally, there is not a whole lot of classical music that I really enjoy. However, there are lots of other types of calming music. Do you like any trance or ambient music? I would recommend Ott, Shpongle, and Shulman. I like to do yoga and these are bands that I often listen to during my practice. I also like to listen to Blue October and Cage the Elephant. These are pretty calm as well. It sounds like you are leaning in the other direction though. A lot of people do like to exercise to more energetic music with a lot of bass. I guess just try things out and find out which would keep you amped up, but not become a distraction.
