I agree on that..If you think that the life of the cell phone going to end then you can get a new one otherwise there is no need for a new smartphone.. This industry is so fluctuating ie, if you buy a phone today a beeter phone will be launched with better features.. so you ll never get satisfied .. so dont run behind new phone..if you phone is gone then get a new one..

I lost my cellphone several months ago. I used it for almost 2 years. I agree with you, I only use my cellphone for calling and sending messages. I'm not into buying an expensive one. My cellphone now was given to me by my uncle.

I have a smartphone, and that is the only phone I will buy, as I like to go on the internet with it when I am not home, and I can post in here should I want to. I used to have a phone that all I could do was talk on it and text, but I found it to be very boring, as I like it when I can do other things with my phone, as it becomes like a handheld computer, where I can do pretty much on my pho0ne, what I can do on my computer. Sure, they are more expensive, but to me they are worth the price for the most part, and I know my limitations anyway, and wouldn't buy a phone, I could never pay for. It seems that technology is constantly changing, and hard to keep up with it. I do change my phone every year, or 2 but I don't keep it for any longer than that. I have never found a phone that I wanted to use that long until this phone I have now, so we will soon see. Take care, and have a very good day.

you can always get a new one but in the same model, they do these on e-bay, i know a lot of people like these all singing all dancing phones but as long as the one you have does the job, then stick with it, you could always search on ebay and see if you can get the same one but in better condition, i have a touch phone which is basic, it doesn't connect to the net it doesn't have music, but it does the job that i want it to do, as long as i can make and receive calls and send texts, then i am happy with what i have got

Its the utility and requirement of a phone and a user respectively that determines which phone one must buy. I have a smartphone now and i use it for, music, photography, emailing, downloading, surfing the internet apart from calling and texting. Although i always like old black and white phones to own as they are reliable, rugged, light weight, less delicate, have long lasting battery backup and are not prone to virus attacks. To be frank,i am in hunt of a second hand b/w phone to buy.:)

It is hard to believe that you haven't changed your cellphone for five years. It is quite a long time. As you know, today some people change the cellphone quite often. I am not interested in buying the latest stuff. My cellphone is already 3 years old and I am still satisfied with it. If it still works fine, I have no plan to change it. I don't like wasting money. I love China

I have had a contract phone for a number of years now, and this has meant that I have been able to get a new phone every 20 months so I have not even had to think about whether I am going to change my phone or not because it is just something that was going to happen anyway. The last time I got a new phone was in October, and I have to say that I was very impressed with the things that it could do. I can pretty much control my entire life through one device, and I don't think that I will ever go back to a simple phone now that I have owned this one.

I held on until the very bitter end with my Blackberry Storm. It was the first smartphone that I ever owned and it was given to me for free as a hand-me-down. I recently had to upgrade and went for an iPhone. I have to say that I'm so happy with the upgrade that I can't believe that I waited as long as I did. I didn't even get the 4s either. They were out of stock. I ended up with the 4 but it is miles ahead of my Blackberry Storm. If your cellphone is slowly starting to fade, I would suggest upgrading to a more modern smartphone. The advanced technology will leave you thankful that you did.

Yeah that is the basic use of a phone if i could ill just keep using my old reliable phone it is easier to text since you can do texting with it without looking at the keypad but with smart phones, gooluck and one more thing they are more sturdier i think compared to the new ones, right????

My cell phone is an old one, 4 or 5 years old, and I don't feel like changing it, though people keep telling me to do so. I like to use it as long as it works, and since I don't use it for anything other than calling, text messaging and alarm, I don't see why I should spend money on a new cell phone.

My cellphone is very simple and cheap, I just use it to call, text and alarm clock, I don't want to change a new one. One night I listened to radio, some DJ talked about the smartphone, many pepole who use the smartphone were late for their work at a legal holiday, because it's too smart, it didn't alarm clock, it's off duty that day.

For now, similar to you, calling and sending text messages are the two features of a phone that's important for me. I still don't have a need for smart phones since I'm on the internet the whole day for my work. I'm not really that mobile. When I go out, it's always for leisure. I mean, I don't bring my work with me or do any business as much as possible. Although I bring my tablet just in case. But I think in a few months or so I might be needing a smart phone. I'm rebuilding my network and would be going out quite often.

Yes, I have that thinking too. But I just changed phones recently. I changed phones because I lost them. But if I don't get to lose them, I will surely use them until now. I really don't fancy changing phones as I am lazy to try and micromanage new technology phones nowadays. Yes, the most important thing is that I can use it for communication like messaging and calling. That is the use of cellphones for me.

When I get a cell phone, I do try and make it last a long time. The phone that I am currently using is about a year and a half old and I hope to keep it at least until summer. However, I do like to get new phones when I am eligible for a free upgrade. I guess that I enjoy having a new toy to play around with.
