I love dry lima beans and ham and I make this from scratch at least three times during the colder months. But I also get tired of it as the warmer weather starts to come around. So today is my last pot until Autumn. Now i just have to make the corn bread to go with it.

Sounds like a meal to warm you inside out. I like ham and cabbage in the winter too. It took me a while to get the taste for it. I didn't like it at all when I was younger.

Thanks for the best response. I hope your meal turned out well. The weather has cooled quite a bit here and a "winter" meal would be nice.

One of my favorite food is " Chili con carne ", they don't make it as good here so my main supply of it canned comes direct from the U.S. ( one of my favorite is the Cattle drive brand). All kinds of beans are readily available here all year round so I make my own using a pressure cooker when my supply runs out, to be honest, I don't know or have never tried corn bread.

Corn bread to me is dry, but Hubby is from Texas and loves it. I do like the smell in the house.

That is a great meal for me during the winter time as well. I like it with sugar as well.

I never thought to add sugar, I'll bet that is really good. Thanks

It does sound like a winter dish. Sounds good though. I am going to be having a nice meatloaf with ham and bacon. I know what you mean about getting tired of things. And in the warm weather, who could eat a lot anyway. Enjoy.
