All your data on CLOUD!!! -will it be good or bad?

Cloud computing is an idea which is not much old. The concept is that each user is allowed to keep some amount of his data(say 5 or 10 GB) on the servers of google(say) or any other provider. This helps in two ways. First, the data can no longer be lost or corrupted due to system failure or virus attack and Second, the user will not be required to buy a new hard disk due to space limitations and Third, user can access his data from any where ,any time, from any computer in the world. Now a days,Innovators are planning to put each computer's hard drive on a big,GIANT cloud. That means no pc will be required to have hard disks in order to operate them. All the data will be stored on the cloud. And unlike today, the access time and latency will be too high. Storage and Retrieval of data will be done almost INSTANTLY. What do you think? What changes will this concept inculcate in present day scenario? How will it be good for you and how will it bad for you? (Imagine a disaster(flood etc) strikes the region where one of the giant cloud server is being maintained.:P.What will happen then?lol.)

my answer to this is that what if the GIANT cloud server were to crash and all data was lost cause too much data was stored and how do you think everyone would respond to this? i know i would be the most angriest person ever i have stories and everything i've started saved to my hard drive and if it were all on a cloud hard drive server and it failed and lost all my data i know for sure i wouldn't be happy.

this thing is new to me ... though the idea is good but i believe there must be some barriers for the security .... well i will sit back the let the idea develop and see what other people are saying about it . Its better to be safer then sorry .... dont want my data on public domain :p

Your data will be secure.Just the way you use your email account and whenever you upload or download an attachment, the system automatically checks for viruses and torjans, similar is the case with cloud computing. And dont worry, no one except you could access your data on that PUBLIC DOMAIN.hahaha:)

i think having all your dates just on the cloud should be comfortable for some aspects but really not secure for security policies....servers can crash or bypassed and so on...the 100% security online never exists so i think cloud can be useful in some cases for some dates but not all...

The amount of free cloud storage currently available is too low for serious use. There have also been a few too many accidental releases of data to risk storing confidential data like this yet.

I think that there is a lot that is good about the fact that we can now get our data for anywhere. I like the fact that all of the photographs that I have taken on my phone are transferred immediately to my laptop for example. However you really do have to be careful about the things that you choose to share because they might possibly end up somewhere that you wouldn't want them to be, and this would be a shame. You should make sure that anything you put in the public domain is safe and you wouldn't mind if the entire world saw it; because this is what could potentially happen.

Nah, that would be quite optional in my opinion and not in near-future either. Most people would not agree with that.
