Hi everyone, I really really need your help or advise about my cats. I think I better give you a description of my cats first and then the problem with them. I have 1 cat at home, named Dos. He's a funny and smart tom cat, which means that he's almost always outside the house. I know I have given several accounts here in mylot about him. He's not very affectionate because he does not like snuggling or being rubbed/scratched without his consent. He has no breed, or what we call here in the Philippines as "pusakal" short for "pusang kalye" or street/alley cat. He's probably a mixture of so many breeds already. He does look like Garfield (or Puss in Boots) though he has short hair and wonderful dirty white stripes. His stripes form a diamond at his nape. I guess his age is about 2 and a half years old. Give or take a few months. Anyway, last Christmas, I gave my boyfriend a kitten. According to the breeder she's 2/3 persian and 1/1 siamese. (mother is half persian, half siamese, looks like a lynx with the M at the forehead; father is a persian, i don't know what kind). We named her tofu. Her color is that of a siamese but her fur is not short (not that long to be a full persian) and the shape of her head is more persian because it's wide. She's very hyperactive and very fun. She loves to snuggle and is very talkative. She lives in my boyfriend's house, and boyfriend's dad takes care of her when boyfie is at work during the day. Now these to cats seems to hate each other, or seems that Dos wants to rape Tofu or something. The first time they met, Tofu already hissed at Dos, but Dos seems unperturbed. He just sniffed and sniffed and meowed (which seems to us like an amorous meow). The encounter was just a few minutes. This was the day I got Tofu for my bf. They met again over the new year when I took care of Tofu in fear that she might die of suffocation at bf's house cause of all the smoke during the new year. His house tends to fill with a lot of smoke from the outside, being that his neighborhood is so testosterone-riddled and people have a lot of fire crackers and stuff that give-off so much gunpowder smoke. Dos didn't know of Tofu's presence until new year itself (I took her a few days before the new year). Tofu didn't also know about his presence, but when she did, she sought him out and would meow angrily at him, and she's at an attack position. I tried to keep them away from each other, but Dos would pursue her and stalk her. Dos knows she's with me, and she watches us from the cracks and gaps of doors. Dos is kinda creepy that way. The last time they met, about last month, he brought Tofu at my place because I didn't have the time to swing by his and visit Tofu. I let them be on the same room and see what happens. Tofu is in the aggressive again (always the first) and Dos just sniffs and seems interested but not budging. Tofu tried to swipe at him and naturally Dos got agitated, so he tried a few swipes at her, tried biting her neck (probably to subdue her). Whenever we try to hid Tofu, Dos will look for her. Now, my problem is I have to keep both of them in my place now because some issues have arised from Bf's side. Though there are people at my home all the time, they wouldn't have the time to watch the 2 cats the whole day. I'm afraid that they'll really fight or that Dos'll rape Tofu or something. Is there anything I could do to at least make them get along with each other? I have no knowledge about how cats mate since most of my cats I've had are outdoor cats and are brothers or sisters Usually it's the girl cats that stay and at times they just go home pregnant. This is actually the first time that I'll have cats of different genders that are not related to each other. So I really need all the help I can get. Bf and I plan to mate Tofu with a full persian when she's ready (though we don't know when that will be), so her litter would be more in-line with the persian breed (we plan on breeding cats). Sorry for the long post but I thought I shouldn't leave some details out as the details might help in dealing with their personalities. I'm desperate for guidance since Tofu will move in tonight, and I'd like to start something that will help them be friends

I suggest that you have both of hem spayed first thing today. This will make them milder in temperament and also keep the girl cat from having kittens which will surely aggravate the problem.

I don't want them spayed yet. I want tofu to have at least 1 litter with a persian cat, and maybe 1 with Dos. I just want them to get along with each other

What I do with my cats when there are angry to another cat, I slightly hit the cat on the head but not hard. I actually talk to them like they understand what I was saying. When the cat is doing angry sound I call it's name and touch it's head and tell him like, example "Tofu no! Tofu!! He's your friend okay." I'll make him stop by touching her head, kinda slapping her but just slowly not hard. I think she'll understand by that what I wanna tell her. If you don't want to hurt them. Maybe you could touch them both. Carry them both but apart from each other and touch them at the same time. Try to talk to them when they are both beside you. I think they'll understand it. I have a lot of cats and they get along well even they are not brother's and sisters. But my two mother cats are sometimes moody. My one old mother cat is with me for a long time and the other one was just a stray cat who just came in our house. Before the old mother cat was always angry with that new cat but now she doesn't get angry anymore but they are not that friends. Before it seemed like she was always irritated with the new cat around but not it's fine with her.

Try many things. Maybe hold their hands and let their mouth touch.. haha.. Just play them. And Let their back touch each other. Just hold their arms so that they won't be able to hurt each other..

I tried slightly hitting on the head, but to no avail. Dos would immediately get out of my touch like I just scalded him or something. Maybe he's jealous? but he won't pull away if Tofu is in his sight and I pet him. Ack! I'm at a loss here. It's okay if they won't be friends, just be civil enough not to drive me or boyfie nuts! Dos and Tofu are both are babies, we don't want to favor one over the other, but you can't teach a cat to act like an older brother! *sigh*

Wow! I hope i have cats like that. Your cats and my cats are quite similar. They try to fight each other when they see each other (kind of hisses with each other when they meet). I guess that's how cat act when they are around with the opposite gender. See, they are majestic animals since they behave like lions who doesnt love human meat. They respect their personal boundaries and if they would see a cat they are attracted to or even not attracted to, they try to have, you know, but most cats are not much public rapists. According to a book i read about cats, they are secretive. We don't see too much cat feces anywhere right? They bury their feces. Your cat's condition are up to you. If you want to learn more about cats and their behavior, search the internet or better yet ask an expert or read a book about them. They have animal instincts and that's just their personality. Well, good luck with your relationship with your cats and have a good day. You can do it, just don't give up.

I've been reading up stuff but unfortunately I haven't stumbled upon how to stop them from mating aside from spaying/neutering. I don't want to do that yet because I do want for them to have kids someday, just not now.

Well then, i appreciate your love for cats, then again, i think spaying/neutering are the only ones we can do in these circumstances. Well, good luck. Have a good day.
